He asked me where I got the information, and when I told him, he said that they'd gotten a few other calls from people because some Websites were "giving erroneous information" and he was sorry about that. Wish I'd read the responses here before I'd called them. I called the 888 # above and was told to call the local office. Called the local office and they told me the credit was only available in CA. She asked me about my internet (10 meg down/1 up from a local cable company, in the process of being bought by Comcast) and TV (Dish) and suggested their bundle: DirectTV (w/ 2-year contract) and DSL (3.0 down/768 up). There's no way I'm interested in a 2 year contract - I'm waiting for FIOS. But I told her that when Comcast takes over, I might go with their bundle, including phone. She said those were the magic words - she could give me our 44.99 (plus all the fees and taxes) Freedom Essentials package for $25.99/month for 12 months. So my call for a $40 credit over 4 months turned into a $228 credit over 12 months! I’m in NJ. I called the 888 # above and was told to call the local office. I am in Florida and I earned my $40 credit, just waiting on the telephone for at least 25 minutes for the rep to process it, and he never did! I swear he must has said bear with me, at least 20 times during the conversation. Then said it was only good in California. Oh brother typical Verizon! Bait and Switch!
