Title should read: “$400 Statement Credit For Travel”
arctichare says
This is travel reward card, OK? Don’t complain not straight cash back for $400. I think $400 statement credit is great without the limitation of whatever airline, hotel you choose. If I have to redeem it through some asked system, I know they wouldn’t give me the best offer, and the higher offer is just seem ‘higher’.

The barclay card only gives you half .5 cents per 1 point which effectively makes it 1% for everything if you use it as cash back and not apply it to travel expenses. The 2.2% only applies if you use the points towards a travel expense therefore I will not sign up for this since it is too restrictive. AMex service is better but there isn’t a comparable card except sapphire. I opted for sapphire for the versatility

I would be an idiot not to check out a credit card that is offering so much as this one. I usually end up flying a couple of time a year so It has been my mission to find a better rewards card than the one I have. I just haven’t been able to settle on one yet.

I just called before applying and they want you to notify them before leaving for each and every trip, as to where you’re going and for how long. For that reason alone, I’m not applying. I don’t need the credit card co. to act as my parent. Think about that. They say it’s for your protection which is a bunch of B.S.. Other credit cards don’t do that which is why they have fraud protection in place. Glad I called and found out about this. Too many tactics are being deployed in the name of “protection” while sacrificing your freedom and right to move about without notifying anyone. All while you report to a company that you’re giving your business, that is there to give YOU service. What’s wrong with this picture?

It is not $400 cash back. I just applied and checked today. 40,000 miles bonus signup off that can be redeemed for $400 statement credit for travel or $200 cash statement credit.
S.E. says
Better verify that $400 cash back
Carl Mancuso says
I just signed up for this and as far as I can tell you can only get a $200 statement credit.
Hu$tler says
There are two versions of this card. One is $400 with annual fee waived the first year. The no annual fee version has the $200 statement credit.
Carl Mancuso says
I’m pretty sure I got the one that gives 40000 bonus points and waives the annual fee. On the member website there is a rewards calculator. When I plug in 40000 points it says $200 cash back.
R says
Carl is correct and this is the reason I have not applied for this card. You only get the 1 point/1 cent conversion rate when redeeming for statement credit for travel expenses. Redeeming for statement credit for non-travel expenses is a 1 point/0.5 cent rate.
Greg says
You say “You could also redeem 40,000 miles for $400 straight-up cash.” Are you referring to getting statement credits towards travel? Or is there a way to get a $400 statement credit or check without travel expenses?
Hu$tler says
Yes, for travel expenses.
