Hello, any recent issue with Discover saving a/c? Planning on to open one.

I’ve been with discover for a couple of years now and they are a soft pull via chexsystems.

Please help! I used the correct code back in November that I got from this site, but the page has since refreshed. Discover didn’t apply the $100 bonus due to a glitch in their system and annoyingly, even though they reassured me they’d enter the code manually and I thought I was all set months ago, they now say they require me to give them the code from that was valid then (not the one that expired in Oct 2015 and not the current one that now shows on this site). Does anyone have the $100 bonus new savings account code that was listed starting Nov 1 2015? I would SO appreciate it!!

My suggestion? Close your account and move to Ally. I have had issues with my Discover checking account ever since I opened it. Big mistake to transfer my account to them from Ally just to get bonus. They have technical issues constantly and often can’t resolve them but provide “work arounds.” They have sent me erroneous emails telling me changes were occurring to my account and then sent an email after saying they weren’t actually going to happen. Trouble all the time. I thought it would get better but it’s been over a year and no luck. Best wishes!

To Amy. Since you can close account @ any time I would ask for supervisor and let him/her know you’ll close immediately if you don’t get promo. Then do it. If you have it linked externally…pull it that day. You can get better interest i.e. BEST BANK IN NATION IMO Everbank 1.6% for 6 months, Igo and My Savings Direct 1.10% (but they are a little bit difficult to deal with, but manageable), Popular 1.25% (again little difficult to deal with, but you can do it), Silvergate & Incredible @ 1.10%, & UFB @ 1.0%. Then after you do that, open up another Discover Savings Act with current promo (I always record my codes & conditions in my password app called “The Vault” it’s FREE on Apple for phone/iPads), you may need to wait 6 mos or so to open another Discover act. Supervisor may comply when they know you are serious. I always ask for supervisor if I am dissatisfied and 99% of time they comply. Good Luck!

Thank you so much, John! I will try to speak to another supervisor and insist. I really appreciate your detailed comment. I’ll be much more careful from now on and download Vault.
Best,
Amy

When i click on the link, the auto populate code is different from S00000FAQ, and just says, “offer accepted.” Seem problem Annie had, so does that mean i won’t get the bonus?
david says
Do you know if Discover ever had any promotion with their CD accounts? Thanks!
Annie says
When I click on apply now, It poped up to Discover website with the following “*Bonus valid thru 12/31/15. Limited to new savings customers only; 1 per customer per account. To receive $50 or $100 bonus: 1) Must apply through HustlerMoneyBlog.com by 12/31/15; and 2) Minimum deposit of $5,000 for $50 Bonus or $10,000 for $100 bonus must be received by 1/15/16. Bonus will be issued by 2/28/16 as credit to the account, which must be open at issue. Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT. Offer may be modified/withdrawn without notice.”, Then I clicked on open an account, the promotion code “S00000EPS” is automatically populate, however, when I clicked on apply code, it just said “Offer code accepted. Thank you.”. I didnt see any confirmation of $100 bonus promotion. How do I make sure that I will receive 100$ bonuses. Thank you.

Discover Bank runs great promotions and the savings pay good interest. For this month and next Discovery will double the 10 cents for a total of twenty cents for each transaction. I use it for a purchase at every store I visits, buying at least one thing with the card then using a CC for the bigger part of the transaction. The twenty cents adds up quick if done correctly.

Avoid doing business with this company. I applied for one of their previous “bonuses” and was told I’d get the $50 bonus in 4-6 weeks on August 1, 2015 and I’m still waiting. I’ve written them three times and each time they say they have to research it to verify I’m eligible for the bonus. The last response says:
“In an effort to provide you the best service possible, this has been escalated to a promotional specialist for investigation. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the investigation to be completed. Which upon review began on 8/10, and will have resolution by 10/10/15. If it is found at the end of the investigation that the promotional offer was in your name and you have met the requirements, the credit will be applied to your account at that time.”
I’m ready to pull my money out and forget the bonus- BEWARE

Discover did the exact same thing to me with the bogus bonus to open a checking account. I jump through all the hoops and close a good account to set up my pay for direct deposit then they say I was not on the list to receive the mailer.
odawg says
you need to deposit 50k not 5k to get the $500 for capital360

Is the cash back reward based on dollar amount of the transaction or simply on the number of transactions?
