It’s illegal to charge for a prescription (the piece of paper that has the info about what contacts to order).

As for filling the prescription, that’s a different ball game. That’s payment for ordering contact lenses. The prescription itself is legally available to you for free.

Free prescription to mean free contacts is misleading. They may be required to give you your eye prescription (which is nothing but a piece of paper with the strength of each contact) for free but that doesn’t mean the prescription will be filled for free.

Some optometrists even include the price of new contact lenses with their annual exam fee (review your itemized receipt), but you are still paying for them in the total price.

My optometrist told me that by law, whenever an eye exam is done, is required to give you your eye prescription.

Where is the free prescription aspect being advertised? I don’t see it on their site.

The prescription is not free unfortunately. I signed my boyfriend up for an appointment and after the exam and the long lecture on why laser surgery was good there was a $90 charge if he wanted a prescription for contacts.

I looked into it and there is nothing even within an 8 hour drive of me. Too bad since I need a new eye appointment soon. I need an upgraded prescription for my contacts.
