If you purchases a new car recently, chances are it may have came with a free trial of Sirius XM. Sounds great, huh? Especially since it typically 6 months of free service.
Pretty good way to get you hooked and soon after, you will have to pay for the service for it to continue!
Not a bad thing, but there’s definitely a way to reduce what you pay. Because is $10.99 – $20.99 a month worth the service? That’s up to $250+ per year spent using the service.
Even if you cut down but a fourth or even half, think about what more you could do with those savings!

How To Negotiate The Best Sirius XM Deal
Below are steps you can take to help lower your service bill.
To start off, research the current Sirius XM promotions going on and decide which plan best suits your needs and wants. Then you’ll be able to use this as a negotiating factor. Now, simply call and ask for the retention department.
Once you’re on the phone with the retention department rep, start mentioning how much you enjoy and love the service and want to continue the service, but you feel like you’re not okay with the price you’re paying.
This is when the rep may throw a few offers out to you. Keep an open ear for the offers, but definitely do not accept the first offer. Deny the first few offers.
Be sure you have a calculator so you can divide the offered price with the number of months to find out how much you’ll be paying monthly.
In summary, the offer you should get is 5 months of service for $25. This is the lowest offer possible that you can get. Once you receive this offer and accept, the rep will go over some terms & conditions along with some disclosures. Now you can enjoy your service without having to pay full price!
Now, if you come across a rep that does not offer that deal, stand your ground. Do not give up and simply try again a few minutes after hanging up.
Thank the rep for their time and call back and follow the same procedure again until you get the offer. If you end up not receiving the offer, simply cancel the service and you should receive offers via email/mail to become a member again.
Those offers may even be lower than what the reps offered you – once you get offered a deal that you are happy with, sign up again! Hope you the best of luck in receiving the best deal possible!
Helpful note: It’s a good idea to take note of your expiration date. If you do not, your subscription plan will renew at current price (probably more than you are willing to pay). Set an alert & mark it on your calendar. That way, you can contact Sirius XM to negotiate to get the best deal again. If you do not receive the offer you desire, simply cancel the service. Then, wait for new offers to be presented to you via email or email. Contact the billing department and ask them to remove your card from their file (you have the right to do so), so you will not be charged automatically after your promotional offer has ended.
Bottom Line
Sirius XM is definitely entertaining – whether you use the service to listen to music, catch up on the news, listen to a podcast, etc, Sirius XM is surely a fantastic service. However, before you pay full price for satellite radio, definitely give these tips a try to help you save money!
Sometimes, all it takes is a phone call and a few minutes of your time to get the best deal possible! If you’re looking to maximize your savings, be sure to check out the best credit cards or more ways to save money online!

yes this was a great deal. This was my deal back in 2020. I just renewed feb 2022 $87.41 incl fees for All Access. $6/mo + fees.

I don’t think SiriusXM provides this service. Your car does. Or an app on your phone to link up to your car. Hope this helps. 🙂

I was able to get 12 months All Access package for $99, plus fees and taxes on the first try via Chat. Not too bad for about 5 minutes of my time (and better than the $320 they were about to charge me).
Kevin T says
Just used the Chat feature and got the $60/year + fees for the Select Plan (includes streaming). Took less than 10 minutes.
Allan H. Freeman says
Thats the sort of deal I’m looking for…I was offered $8.25 + fees and taxes per month. Waiting for an email with better offer, or I’ll just go without for a while.
Jeff says
I got All Access for $4.99/month + tax for 12 months plus an Echo Dot. I had to turn down a couple of other offers first. I hate this dog and pony show.
Troy says
Is it the the full select for $60 or the select lite? I thought I was getting select with streaming, turns out it was just for the car. When I checked my account online I noticed it said select lite.
Scott says
I was able to get Sirius XM Select for $5 per month plus taxes for 12 months by selecting the cancel subscription option within my SiriusXM account from SiriusXM’s website.

Did you ask for the “Retention Department”? It may take couple of “holds”, but insist on someone in North America.
David says
was on the last day of 1 year for $60 on 3 cars. The best they would go is $60/yr + fees -> $77.81. Could not get them to budge, so cancelled. Have been a customer since 2007.
Kathy says
Me too so I cancelled. Within a month, I received several offers. The last one is for 12 months at $4.99. Why don’t they deal with you right then and there instead of jumping through the hoops.
Robin says
Had the all access plan. They wanted $320 to renew. Called, got the Select plan for $60 a year plus the Echo Dot. I’m a long time customer and I would have cancelled had they not given me the deal. Also got the $2 for 3 months all access for my husband whose first 3 free months is expiring in the next few days. Will probably call in May to cancel or get him the select deal too. $5 a month is okay – more than that is just outrageous.
Gary says
Hi I just renewed my Select account for $60 per year including fees. I had the stand firm on cancelling a couple of back and forts with the agent but only took about 5 minutes.
Sarah says
Wish that worked for me. The last 2 renewals they refused to deal and I had to cancel. Within a month you get a renewal offer in the mail but I’ve never gotten one over the phone.
Mike says
$62.XX for 6 months of All-Access. Had the deal before and they just extended. It was the first offer they gave me.
Mark says
FYI – I just called the retention dept. (if there really is one…), and got the 60 a year including royalty, taxes, tips…whatever else they throw on. Took less than five minutes. I do note that their standard fee has dropped from over 200 to around 150, according to their most recent email to me. Makes you wonder how many are paying that amount. Now if I could only figure out a way to do this with Comcast….
Listener says
I just renewed All Access for $120/year, which includes all fees and taxes. They first made several other offers, and I kept saying no. I never give a credit card number, so they cannot automatically charge my card at a higher rate if I forget to renew when the 12 months expire. They are snail mailing me a paper bill.
Mark says
Haven’t seen any postings for awhile. Anyone have a recent experience? My Sirius expires in a few weeks, so I wonder what the bargaining point is. Last I saw, it was around $60 for a year.
Bodie says
Thank you guys so much! Just from reading this article and the comments, I was able to get my renewal at the $60/year for the XM Select Lite plan when I mentioned “my friend” got this deal. They weren’t able to waive the royalty fees, but I am ok with it. I only listen to a handful of channels anyways and don’t need the All Access plan.
Bebe Enteo says
Just to further clarify. Buy Sirius XM gift cards at Best Buy, these cards have no “fee” like the Visa pre-paid cards, and never expire. They come in amounts of $15, $30, and $50. So for All-Access, get three $50.00 cards, and use to get the discounted price. Leftover can be used next time. The advantage to this is you don’t have a credit card on their system.
Another thing the author stated was to cancel the account, and then call back. I guarantee you, as soon as you say that you’re cancelling the account, the offers will start. I’ve never had to cancel and call back, they always come back with an offer.
Bebe Enteo says
A couple of other comments:
-When you call to renew or establish, ask for the Retention Department. You’ll get someone in North America. I’ve gotten CSRs in Canada and Nebraska in the past
-NEVER, EVER, give your credit card. Go to Best Buy (or bestbuy.com), and buy gift cards and put them in your online account. When you call to negotiate, the funds are already there. Anything left is used for the next renewal.
-Remember to call about a month before the AUTOMATIC renewal date, and you won’t pay the $2.00 invoice fee for non-credit card billing.
I’ve been doing this for at least five years and it always works. By the way, in case anyone is wondering, the car dealer where I bought my car told me this procedure.
Thanks for your information!
FatCat99 says
Called today, told them I saw they were offering 3 month free promotion extension, it’s actually $2 for the 3 months, but nothing better than that. Made reminder on my phone to call the day before the renewal date, and will go thru the 90 second process with them again.
Kiki says
I got this deal as well, but asked about the streaming service, which they added for no charge. One year of car service and streaming on my phone for $60 is probably the best deal I’ve ever gotten from XM in all the years I’ve had them.
Marky D says
Thanks to everyone for all of the tips. I called in to 866-649-6222, told the automated system that I wanted the retention department. Told the rep that answered that I really like the service, am interested in the Select Package for $4.99 for 12 months. Told them that I had a friend that had just renewed and that the Sirius customer service representative was able to adjust the price of the service to make it where it was a flat $60.00 for 12 months which included royalty fees, etc. She put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and said they would make a 1 time courtesy adjustment to give me the service for $60 all-in for 12 months. Took less than 10 minutes. We had cancelled our subscription 6 months ago and have been waiting for them to beg us to come back and they asked plenty, but with the help that I found on this site, I felt like this was the best option at the best price with the least hassle. I’ve already set up a reminder to cancel the service or try and get this same deal 362 days from now. Thanks again everyone that posted before me and I hope I can help some others get a good deal in the future!
Larry Morgan says
They let me cancel too. I really only listen to one channel – LOVE (ch. 70) and they preempt it around 5 months out of the year (3 months during the summer with Yuck Rock and then a couple of months of Christmas music later in the year). It’s really not worth the hassle.
Larry Morgan says
I tried to get the royalty fees waived like several comments mentioned. However, they wouldn’t do it. Also, they weren’t willing to throw in 3 extra months of a “free trial” like one comment mentioned. After they offered their so-so “deals,” I said “I guess I will just have to cancel.” They said fine, so in 3 days I’ll have to adjust to local radio again.
Andy says
Got the select on 3 vehicles for 1 yr each – $60/vehicle. That seems pretty reasonable for the service.
Chris Silvester says
$38 and change includes all fees and tax for 6 months. $30 for the select plan + fees. Initially they wanted $126. I set a calendar date for 6 months minus a couple days to renew.
Ron Ravolta says
Thats true only if you dont continue to keep an existing account at your bank. If you are issued a new credit card with the same financial institution, Your new account # will automatically be billed . Yes your new account number as this IS A RE-ACCRUING CHARGE to the same bank card company. Be Careful !!
Lindsay says
Just called in and told them I wanted the mostly music package for $50 for the year. She couldn’t do that but offered me the select for $30/6 months. I told her to make it $60/year and I’d take. She checked and couldn’t do that but threw on a three month trial so I ended up with 9 months of service for $36.16 with taxes and fees. Best part is that my credit card expires before the service renews so I don’t have to worry about automatic renewal!

All -Access for 6 months with 3rd Gen Echo Dot. 64.71 (50$ + taxes and royalty fees).
Elle says
First offer: 5 months for 30-ish bucks. Second offer: 5 months for almost 40 bucks
While I’m on the phone with the rep, I’m scrolling through the comments for “wins” from other posters.
I agreed to $60 for six months all access, and video access with free third gen echo dot. WIN! Marking my calendar NOW to play the game again in 6 mos.

March 3, 2019 – SUCCESS!
Thanks, e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e ! I called to “cancel” my S-XM ‘Select’ subscription which would have renewed for $240 PER YEAR. I told them I will not be renewing because of price. ‘She’ replied to me, “I don’t want you to have to pay that much, either.”
She offered $100 PER YEAR but I was flat disinterested.
She tried again with 6 MONTHS for $5.99/MONTH PLUS FEES & TAXES. I was still disinterested. I decided to hold out for NO TAXES NO FEES AND $5.00/MONTH. She put me on hold, briefly, and accepted.
She deducted the remaining balance on my current account which would have expired in April.
I was so pleased with the outcome I told her, “That’s such a good deal, I would like to add another vehicle at exactly the same rate.” Done!
Gotta run. I’m off to mark my calendar…

How did you do the NO repeat transactions?
Thanks!

Just spent 7 minutes on the phone, and got the 6 months for $30 with the fees it came to 36.16 and the auto renew is $101.92 – but I will call back in 6 months and go through the haggle all over again. Thanks for all your info!
Keith S says
I just got All Access for 6 months for $64.33 (that’s is the final total with fees and taxes). Includes streaming and a free Amazon Dot speaker. They sent me a code in an email to apply at checkout on Amazon. Sure enough it brought the total down to $0.00. Its on the way (2 1/2 week leadtime though).
Otherwise it was $104.37 for XM Select for 6 months, which is less channels and NO streaming. So I should be getting the difference credited back to me

I just got one year for $72.84, but i forgot to ask about using my app. AND i need to remember to cancel before the auto renew date in a year

I want to ask if you think I can get the 6 month deal after I get a three month free deal? Am I better off just jumping in at the 6 months for the 25.00? I am a new subscriber, just installed it this morning. Any advice is appreciated!
Brian says
I tried hard to get this but couldn’t get past $38.00 all in for 6 months. I figured it was close enough and I will go through this again in 6 months.
Dick says
I just called Sirius and followed MW. I got an email bill with the same amount due: $232.94. I explained I was not going to pay that much because I saw on line that someone had just posted on Feb 8 saying they paid a total of $70.98. The rep then tried to sell me a package for $109 plus 34.91 in fees and I said no way I want to pay 70.98. Then the rep comes back and says O K if you pay with a credit card we will wave the invoice fee (?) and charge you the $70.98. I said you have a deal. Took about 10 minutes.
MW says
Received an invoice from my yearly subscription for $232.94. Using the tips provided by the article and user postings I renewed at an annual fee of $70.98. Thanks to Danny and all the folks that posted here. My total time invested on the phone was about 15 minutes.
T says
Signed up for the “only available” 6 month plan at $36.35 ($29.94 + $6.41 fees and tax), then read these comments more closely. I called back and had to play the “cancel it” game for another 42 minutes but ended up with a 12 month plan at $60 total. Decided I would spend the time now instead of haggling through it again in six months. Thanks for the info and thanks for those of you who posted. Let’s see how it goes in 2020.
RHS says
Said I wouldn’t pay the $233 invoice for 1 year of XM Select. Rep offered 1 year for $109 + fees + tax. Then offered $99 + f + t. I asked for the $60 promo but she persisted in saying it is no longer available. Offered 6 months for $30 + f + t, which I accepted. $39 all-in for 6 months – much better than what I had been paying, although I have to do this again in 6 months.

I couldn’t get them down to the $100/year + Echo dot without fees, but I did get them to honor it with fees. Since they were trying to charge me $300 for All Access for a single radio before that, I’m calling it a win. After 33 minutes on the phone (while at work), it was all my anti “may I speak with your supervisor” my former retail-worker heart could handle.
ND Gal says
Great for you! Wouldn’t work for me. I have close to 1KB of music, and I listen to stations that introduce me to new music, plus talk radio & pop-culture talk radio.
Isn’t it great we can all find things that works for us as individuals?
DG says
Just got off the phone with Sirius and the dreaded renewal phone call for my radios. I asked for and got my car radio with select plan for 1 year for the $60 + the fees. I tried hard, but they would not budge to drop the fees and taxes. I also have a home radio with all access. I asked for the $100/year promo with the free Echo Dot, and was told the $100 annual plan did not include the dot. After more working with them, I ended up with an All Access for 6 months for $50 that DID include the free Dot. Again I did have to pay the fees and taxes for a $62 total. The only downside to the 6 month deal is that I will have to call again in July 2019 (I already marked my calendar).
Pam says
@ Brian – we share the same saved bookmark, and I just worked it the same as you – thanks for reporting as it gave me courage.
I don’t even have to think for a second to recollect my most horrible “customer service” experiences – Sirius/XM period. Because it’s not just one time but EVERY YEAR for 13 years!!! I consistently get no straight answers and the real price is whatever can be negotiated. I completely dread the call every year yet this year, thanks to Danny, I was prepared. I don’t know you Danny, but I love you.
My call is usually 1 hr or more and results in my being told I “have” to pay the dang $11 royalty fee + $14.95/month and some convoluted “lead” car nonsense + other fees + minutia that brings the bill to $225+ every year.
After going straight to the resolution number, I was asked “what will you do if you don’t get a lower rate?” (trick, stock question), I told them I would cancel, of course (although I admittedly enjoy Sirius despite the worst customer service/non-transparent pricing in history) and then I was placed on hold, 4x. Came back with 4 different offers, but I held firm (Brian you are my hero) until we finally reached the $60/year Danny said was there for the taking if we just all hang tough. Did I mention THEY CAN WAIVE ROYALTY FEES? Anybody remember the ploy several years ago that Sirius used to get people to act quick by saying those were going UP? I asked then if they could waive and they said was a mandatory “government fee.” I say now “class action.”
Bottom line, $62.01 /yr x 2 for 2 cars. I am so relieved. Thank you again, Danny & Brian – I cried when my 10 min call was over. I don’t ever have to be tortured by Sirius again now that I know what the REAL pricing is.
Snato says
I called and explained the current bill was too high for the decline in programing with Lou Simon no longer hosting the Sixties on Six Satellite Survey and Ken Merson was way worse. Now Ken is gone poor Dave Ethel is doing it from his home in New Jersey! Also I complained about the Sirius XM application on my Sony Blu-Ray player and superimposes the lettering on top of each other so you can not read the song title. The lady sent me to the technical department where I lodged my complaint and she sent me back to Customer Care where I haggled them down to All Access for $99.00 a year.
Brian says
I was doing the 5 month deals but read here about the one year for $60.00. They gave me that deal and after I told her ” I read online that you are giving one year for 60 dollars and waiving the royalty fee ” they gave me that deal. I’ve had this page bookmarked for a couple years now and it’s made a dreaded call much easier. Took about 10 minutes, Sunday 2:30 pm. Thank You
Jack says
Danny, I called the Sirius/XM Retention Team number per your instructions, after receiving a $300 annual fee charged to my credit card, in addition to the monthly charge of $49.68 for our four (4) radios in use! (NOTE: That’s approx. $900 per year!). I have been a Sirius/XM radio user since 2006.
Was routed to the call center in Manila and spoke with ‘Ralph’. I explained to Ralph that I wished to CANCEL service for my 4 radios effective today, and demanded a refund of the $300 fee charged to my credit card. Ralph said “….we would like to offer you a 12 month promotion to retain you as a valuable customer. We will offer you a 12-month promotion of $5.99+taxes+fees = $7.83 per month x 4 radios = $31.32 monthly. We will also refund your credit card the $300 annual fee charged within the next 2-3 business days. We have also WAIVED all music royalty fees for next 12 months. If you do not cancel your service prior to 1/23/2020, your service rate per radio will be $19.04 + fees effective 1/23/20…).
HELL YES, sign me up! Instead of being charged $900 for the next 12 months, I will only be charged $31.32 monthly (approx. $1 per day) or $375.84 for 1-year, a savings of… wait for it….. $524.16
Thanks again Danny! You saved me a BUNDLE! Happy New Year
Edd anderson says
Just got off the phone and spent about 13 minutes and got 1 year $60.00 tax tag and title, I asked them to wave the $11.08 royalty fee to keep it at $60.00 so it wouldn’t be $71.08 after taxes and royalty fee. So they charged me $71.08 but credited me $11.08 for the grand total of $60.00 and I payed it all at once on my debit card. It’s just a game you gotta play to get a deal.
Randy C says
Tried it today. Took 8-10 minutes. Got “All Access” car & streaming services + a free Amazon Echo Dot for a one year cost of $100 all in (all fees, royalties & taxes included). My renewal was due in a couple of days for $320+. What a savings!

Just renewed today (12/26/18).
Got 1 year for $60 for each car; no ‘music royalty fee’.
I didn’t know they would waive this and they did without blinking.
I’d been renewing for 5 months at a time (with the royalty). Thanks for the info that they would waive it.

Best money saving deal ever! Cancel Sirius FM and use an old iPod or cell phone as your music server. You have control of the music you hear and can update as needed. I put most of my entire iTunes library on a 64GB iPod. Subscriptions for entertainment will drain your pocket book, and there’s plenty of entertainment available for free. Just like the good old days!

I just spoke with a retention specialist. I was able to purchase 6 months for $39.30 . That is better than $104.16. Thank you for the monologue to work out a deal.
Benjamin Brown says
Hi. My one year promo of $5.00 per month was expiring today and I was facing an increase up to $15.99 monthly. I really only listen to a handful of channels and told the retention rep that. They first offered me a price of $10.99 monthly and when I repeated that I did not find that price worthy of my limited listening, the rep then offered me another year at the $5.00 a month rate, which I gladly accepted. So for another year I’ll have access to all the channels and pay the $5.00 a month rate, $60.00 for the entire year. It’s an excellent deal at the daily rate of 0.16 cents a day!
Bill says
Thanks for the tip! I folowed your advice and went from a total of $232.94 for 12 months to a total of $29.76 for 5 months. Just have to remember to do this again in 5 months or it goes back up.

I just called and they were going to give me $60 for 12 Mos plus fees including the $2 invoice fee but wouldn’the invoice. Multiple back and forth w/the supervisor but they wouldn’the do the deal wo/a credit card. I let it go and I am OK with that. At some point they will be back at my door and I have no problem living without it with FL radio and CD’s. I have always been prepared to give them up, but have always been po’do at the games you have to play with this company.
Jeremy says
Awesome!
Been doing this for 8 years now but never knew about 2nd and 3rd offers. I actually forgot my renewal was last week but I got a $207 credit/refund back to my card.
First offer was $109 to keep select for 12 months. Second offer was $99 to keep select for 12 months. I politely said it’s still too much and if I were to renew I wouldn’t need Select but just Mostly Music package (I only listen to a few music channels, that’s it). She said she was going to look further to keep me and instead of waiting I just went ahead and asked if they could do the 6 months for $30 promo I heard about and if they could do it for 12 months for $60.
She only gave me the 6 months for $30, but tried to get me to do All Access for $49 for 6 months and a free Echo Dot (I think this was the offer) but I declined, I don’t need to spend more and don’t need or want another Echo Dot.
Bottom line: 6 months for $30 and a $207 refund back for the auto renewal last week. 12 minute phone call. 🙂

Same thing. They just let me go. I am expecting an e-mail from them with a good offer. If not, I will just use my phone.

I just called and they let me cancel rather than offer me a deal of less than $10 a month. Since it is not worth more that $5 a month to me, I am letting it go.
RayLick says
How did you get $50/12 months? The cheapest I’ve found is $60 for 12–which becomes $80 with “fees”–and they wouldn’t even accept the BVU312HW code listed above for the $25/6 months.
Paul says
Thanks for the heads up. I just renewed 4 cars for $50/ea for 12 months.
Every_Mann says
Hello–
Good thing I came across this page.
They are telling me that the $60 per year comes to $80.52 with fees. I told them I will percolate on it.
Is that correct…?
Koba says
You can use a website called privacy that lets you create a burner card easily and limit them to not be able to charge your card more, which is what I did 🙂
Debbie says
I currently had the select plan for 6 months/$30..I just called and upgraded to the all access with a free echo dot for 6 months/$50..Easy, took 5 minutes..
Debbie says
If you have a smart phone, it is easy to stream it from your phone to vehicle with your bluetooth. That way you only need 1 all access plan. Save lotsa $$ with all access for$50 for 6 months.
Debbie says
Called and got $28 for 5 months ($33 with fees). I would have done the 1 year for $60 but they told me that the deal would require me to put my credit card on file with them with “auto-renew”. I’d rather just do a 1-time charge so I turned it down.
Pam says
Wow. What an amazing piece of information. I just called them and did as was suggested above. I ended up with 6 months for 19.28. Just thank you for this information. You just have to wait and go through their information. 10 min and I was all done. It was awesome
Rita Zolubos says
This definately worked! I have two cars that they were going to bill me $457.06 for one year – on car select, the other all access. I called the number that Danny listed – got the retention department and on the select package she first offered me the $99 per year – I told her I understood there was a $60 per year promotion – got that! Then on the all access I was offered $120 for the year as she said that was the “best” package they had. When I asked about the $50 for 6 months she said yes they did that PLUS they offered a free Alexa from Amazon. I already had an Alexa, but, I had wanted another for my top floor so I got $50 for 6 months and a free Alexa that will play XM all access through. Excellent! Like another person wrote on here, I’m going to make a note in my calendar and call again 2 weeks before the end of that 6 months and hook up with another 6 month package for my all access. THANK YOU Danny! I saved $333.56 that would have billed in another week!
Zeebo says
They probably saw you listened to Fox news and figured you’d be gullible enough to pay $241 a month lol.
Christine says
I just got 12 months for $60 after speaking to 3 different reps after threatening to cancel and insisting that I get their best offer for being a long time customer.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, everyone! PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for the info, I just called and was successful at getting the $60 deal for one year of Sirius Select. I basically just stated that the $229 that they were about to bill my account was way too much and that I knew of a $30 for 6 months deal that was available and asked that they give me that for 12 months. She asked me to wait while she checked if that deal was available for my account and within 30 seconds came back and said she could do it for me.
Thanks again for the advise!
Bill says
I got the same deal $60/yr. The renewal email offered $228.53 for 12 months of XM Select. I called 888-601-6302 and said that was too much. Their 1st offer was 1 year for $99 + taxes & fees. I mentioned that I’d seen offers of 6 months for $30 so how about 12 months for $60? After a minute on hold for “approval”, I got that price. They added $16.45 for taxes & fees an credited me for a couple weeks I have remaining on my current subscription. Total charge for 12 months is $70.49. I have to remember to call to cancel/renew prior to expiration date 12 months from now.
Keith says
This all just worked for me; went from around $220 per year which was the scheduled renewal to around $100 per year, which was my original promotional rate, to $30 for 6 months. Thanks so much!

Thanx Andrew,
I received the same deal……….$60.00/yr + taxes/fees for XM Select………..Took about 6 minutes with Tristine and 1 minute on hold for her to get supervisor approval………….No problem and well worth the effort. I’ve been doing the 6 month/$30.00 deal for the past two years and now we have the same deal for twice as long……….All ya gotta do is ‘ask for it’………….They simply do not want the cancellation, no matter what…………..Thanx again

I just called the cancellation number, told them I was going to cancel because the full price they were going to charge when my promotion ends this week on 11/01/18 was too much. They immediately offered the same promotion I have been using (6 months of SiriusXM Select for $30 plus taxes and fees). Entire call took less than 5 minutes.
Mark Adams says
Thanks for that, Andrew. My sub doesn’t run out til mid-December, but I called now figuring if you got the $60 deal, so could I…and I pretty much did. They offered me a year for $71 and credited me for the remaining time on my current, so was just over $60 with taxes and royalties. On the phone for maybe 7 minutes. If only dealing with Comcast was that easy.
Andrew says
I’ve been playing this game on two cars for the last 6 years. Is it a pain in the butt….yeah, but it’s worth the time to get the best deal, I usually end up with the 5 months for $25. Today I got 12 months for $60 instead of the $290! So definitely worth it. It would be so much easier to just charge this in the first place but I guess they do get some customers who will pay the full amount without question. Call never takes more than 10 minutes….better than 15 minutes with Geico!
Rick says
Just called the number and asked for “Retention Dept” and she said it was the Retention Dept. After my 6 mo/$30 was over, I got a bill for 6mo/$122.65.
She asked why I was calling and said I cant afford what they want to charge me and I need a better rate. I said as a 13 yr customer I dont understand why I would get a bill that was quadruple the rate.
Initially she said I could get 5mo/$35. I asked if there was deal if I wanted a 12 mo subscription. She made a comment about the convenience of a 1 yr plan. I said I dont have time nor want/need the hassle, especially as a long term customer, of having to remember to call every 5 mos just to get a reasonable rate.
She came back and said I could get the Select plan for 12mo/$60. So, with taxes/fees/etc, it was 12mo/$75.
Thanks for all the great info/help on this page!

I just got 12 months at $60 for Mostly Music, which is all I need. This is 1/2 of what I was billed for (my renewal was $157/year!!). Crazy that we have to beg for a discount, but it’s worth the 5 minute phone call. Thanks for the advice!
Christopher Barrett says
This is the same deal i typically get. Im brutally honest with them about only paying 5 dollars a month. I inform them if they can make a profit off of that then to sign me up if they cant stop calling. They play hardball but within a month they call and offer the 6 months for $30. I say add in streaming and we have a deal.
David says
I called today after my 3 months for $2 trial ended and I was billed $28.31 for 1 month. I kept saying no to the offers CSR was giving and finally got it down to 121.15 for 1 year plus the 28.31 I was just billed for. so 149.46yr/$12.46mth taxes and fees inclusive. Not sure how much lower she would have gone. I spent about :30 on the call.

Thanks for the tips! Got “All Access” at $50 for 6 month on first radio, then “Select” at $30 for 6months on second radio. May not be best deal but I am content.

So, I was only able to get All Access at $50 for 6 months, but given that I do enjoy streaming, it’s worth it to me.

Thanks Danny,
It worked as advised. 6 months Sirius XM for $22.00 + fees.
Thanks again

Got my initial subscription extended 3 months for $5 then they tried to auto-renew at full price. I called and the best they offered was 1 year at $157 (all access) or 6 months for 30 but I would loose stations I listen to. I cancelled

I just got off the phone playing this ridiculous game you have to play. $99 plus fees was the best 1 year deal and I declined that and they offered 6 months for $30 plus fees which was $37.29 for the select service. The catch is they do not notify you in 6 months of your renewal hoping you will forget so they can zap you with the full charge so you have to remember yourself. Absolutely insane to have to do this every 6 months!
Gabrielle Wood says
Where do you enter the promo code? I was trying to subscribe and I got all the way to putting in my credit card and there is still no option to put in the code. Do you have to call to use it?
gratefulmets says
just renewed all access for $60 for 6 months which includes fees and taxes. renewal price is always tougher than when initiating the service, where they will offer a bigger discount to hook you. it was a struggle and took about 1/2 an hour on the phone. i mark my calendar and do this with dread every 6 months but it is worth the savings. btw, if you buy the all access plan you can stream from your phone to all your other vehicles and only need one account. I have 3 cars with the service on one and stream via bluetooth to the other 2 cars.
Mark Adams says
Never had this before, but Sirius sent me an email about my subscription running out. Yeah, it runs out…at the end of December! Giving me plenty of time to absorb what they want to charge, I guess. Last time, did a one-year for around 60 bucks. I know it’s best to call when renewal date is about hours away, but haven’t seen anything here on what the best yearly rate is currently, knowing that could change by December. The thought of doing this every six months is maddening, what with Comcast, AT&T…it’s almost a full-time job.
Steve G says
Well.. I only feel a LITTLE dumb.. I was reading this as I was negotiating, and by the time I got to “6 months for $23!!” it was too late.. He offered me 6 months for $50 and I just took it. I guess I could have gotten lower, but I was doing 10 things at once and wasn’t paying that much attention. His first offer was $120 for a year and i told him “too much”. I guess I’ll be doing this again in 6 months!
Mike says
I just called SriusXM because I received an email a couple of weeks ago that my plan had expired, and they couldn’t charge my credit card. I never received a notification that my renewal was coming up, so I’m glad I don’t have that credit card any longer!
I had a 3 year XMSelect Plan and they wanted $733.58 to renew (includes fees and taxes) plus about $10 for the time I’ve used it since the plan expired. After telling them it was too much, They offered a discount. The longest term they would give me with a discount was 1 year. They offered $121 per month + fees and taxes. I hemmed and hawed and said that’s still expensive, so she told me to hold and came back with $109 per moth with fees and taxes for a total of $138.91, and she offered to eliminate the additional $10.00 I owed since my account had already expired. I accepted this deal so it’s about $11.57 a month. Much better than the $20.65 per month they had tried to charge my credit card for the 3 year plan. I didn’t try to wheel and deal when I renewed in 2015, and I paid $658.53 for three years, which works out to $18.28 a month,. I wish I’d have called then! I’m content with what I accepted since I listen to SiriusXM on a daily basis
I told them do NOT keep my credit card on file, and only a one time payment is allowed on that card. She repeated that as part of the agreement I had to verbally accept over the phone, so it’s on tape and I documented the date and time of the call in case they try to pull any shenanigans.
Thanks for the great article and the phone number!

just now renewed for 6 month deal for 23.00 plus tax and fees for a total of 27 bucks and change. wow!
Eddie Marczewski says
I can’t figure out for the life of me what or why you have to pay for the service period. The are just as many commercials on satellite radio as regular FM/AM radio. I called and canceled all together. Not at all with the money.
Steve says
Call your credit card company and dispute the charge, and let them know that you never agreed to it.
Nick says
Totally worked… I actually was paying 25 a month and got 6 months for 33$plus fees and taxes came to 39 ft. Or 6 months compared to 25 a month… just have to make sure u set a reminder before it ends cause they put
U in a year membership for like over 100$ so just make sure u keep asking them for more offers and call back in 6 months thanks dude!!!!

Ok. I feel dumb.
My service was OFF and I was mentally gearing up to turn it back on and fight for a deal (I hate having to do this so this past time I let it slide so it was turned off). About 3mths ago (like a Christmas miracle) it came back on so I thought it was a free trial. Then. It stayed on. I led myself believe our son had renewed my subscription (because I didn’t want to face knowing the truth). Last night I looked. Yep. They’ve been charging me $20/mo. I’m not even sure how that’s happening because last time I refused to give them a cred card. #. So. What would you all advise? Cancel (& forget), fight for the refund/and the renewal at discount, fight for renewal at discount/forget the last 3mo of charges? I am seriously aggravated that they force your hand at this renewal dance and then bully you for a cred card #. They must have pulled up my old one (or something ?)…. it was a whole big deal with me asking for them to NOT keep my card on file last time I called. Geesh!!!

Did they say how long the promotion last. Today August 8 2018

I’ve been a subscriber since 2011. I put it on my phone and calendar to renew every 6 months. Usually it’s not a problem to get the $49 All Access plan. When I called today I knew the rep wasn’t going to give me the discount, as he started to conversation as “I’ll have to check your radio to see if it qualifies for a discount, but if it doesn’t, we have other plans we can change you to.” Of course, after “checking” my radio, low and behold, I didn’t qualify for the discount. I hung up and called right back. The new rep said I qualified for one year $149 All Access (including all taxes and fees) plan, and I told her that was too much, that I wanted the 6 month discount plan or I’d cancel. She got me $54 All Access plan for 6 months. I went ahead and took that. The Music Royalty Fee went up to almost $11.

We received an offer on a 2009 vehicle (which we had just traded in on a 2018 model), which was for $99 for a 3 year period. I called about getting that same offer on our new vehicle, but they could not/would not honor that. The rep told that offer offer was only for older model vehicles.
Jeff says
We had a free 3 month subscription when we bought a new car and had no intention of renewing, but right before it ran out they called me and offered 6 months for $30, which is basically the sweet spot for us. I set a reminder on my phone to cancel again in 6 months and I just did that today and essentially told them I’d consider sticking with it if they gave me the same deal again. She offered me the 12-months for $100 deal, which is obviously way worse, and then eventually offered me the original $30 for 6 months again. It was *slightly* more supposedly due to an increase in the music royalty fee (which supposedly went into effect 1/1/2018, though I did the original deal in Feb, so who knows), but close enough to original deal that it seemed worth it to me.
Jack says
There has been free previews in August the last couple years that I’m aware of. It seems to run about 12-14 days and starts around August 22-23 and ends the day after Labor Day.
Maybe they will be doing it again this year, then again, maybe not, but I would guess that they would be

I’m a current customer, and trying to decipher what is the best deal. I’m looking at the subscriptions, wanting one all access, and two for just the radio channels(140channels). I have two radios in my cars, and looking to add a third to cover my parents. Any suggestions welcome.
Liz Bremmer says
On the phone now and funny, he was going through exactly as described above. I have 4 radios and one is on a boat in which I am trying to cancel. He keeps trying to get me to keep that service, but I am not. However, I did ask about the $5 for 5 months and amazingly he can do that on the other radios. However, I have to keep the boat radio today and can cancel it tomorrow and get refunded!!!! Does not make much sense but it’s fine with me to save money.
Lisa Basye says
This one is a little higher, but is for one full year. For the last two years, I have been able to get the all access plan for 12 months for $137 (including taxes and fees). That is less than 1/2 of the renewal rate of $300 and I knew I would never remember to call back in 6 months.
EVS says
Just got the all access $35.99 deal for 6 months while on the road. No haggling was needed which was nice. 15 minutes well spent!
Shelly says
Call back today…their offering it for $30! I just got it!
Shelly T says
20 min phone call – original plan was $120 for the year and renewed at $301. Called in stating that’s completely unaffordable.
I got a package of 140 channels for 6 months at $30 (fee & tax totalled 35.66)
I also had a balance of $43 on my account because Sirius gave me an extension past my renewal without paying, but now that I’m renewing I was being charged the extension time. The CSR said they would waive $20, leaving $23 for me to pay. I stated I did not ask for that extension and I shouldn’t be charged for it. After speaking to a Supervisor, the CSR waived the full $43.
Bugg Whitman says
I tried, They came down to $40 for 6 months all access. She wouldnt go down to $30. I cancelled, my service expires tomorrow.
Pamela Scroggins says
I have paid every 3 months for 4 years. They just took out $75 out of my checking account which means over $300 for a year. The first offer they gave me was $47 +fees and taxes then they said $30.99 + fees and taxes but I could only listen to country music. I told them I only drive my car 5-6 times a month because I am a truck driver. They put me with someone else who gave me a deal of $99+ fees and taxes. Now I just owe $45 until 7/2019. That’s over $200 wish I would’ve known that you could get them to lower your bill. I will make sure to call in July to do it again
purplepenguin says
I just renewed for 6 months total $35.81 including fees and taxes. This included a small credit, as I had about a week left of service. I did have to decline almost 5 higher offers, but when I mentioned my husband just renewed for less, and since we have 2 cars with the service, I would expect a better rate, that’s when she came down.
Fernand says
I got a 3 month extension for $2 +tax (total $2.14).
I bought a new car and got one year free – notice: they still didn’t have my credit card on file. A few days before expiration, after I declined the 6 month for $30 deal they offered me this 3 month for $2 deal and it will automatically renew at the $26 per month rate after the 3 months. I took it. But I entered the reminder and I have to be very careful to call and cancel the service 1 or 2 days before expiration or I’ll be slapped with automatic renewal at the highest rate. I’ll let you know what happens after that.
David Arneson says
$75 for 2 radios – one select and one all access + free streaming for 6 months. He claimed the best was $95 but I asked for a $20 credit on the account which they agreed to. Might be able to get more $$ for a one time credit than $20, but I was getting tired of haggling. 13 years with SXM – getting a little old every 6 months to deal with them.
Sandra Richards says
Just got off the phone with them. They would not budge on their price of 6 months for $30. Interestingly, he told me that people whose cars are older than 2009 pay $3 a month. You read that right. $3 a month.

I am coming off a 6 month promotion and I just got hit with a $76.48 renewal for the next three months for one vehicle satellite and streaming to a Table Top radio. Called the number provided above and after a brief hold talked with a representative – “Dave”. I asked him how long this $76.48 would carry me and when he said three months I just went straight for the jugular and told him to cancel. I explained that with free FM radio in my phone and blue tooth streaming in the car and apps like Tune In Radio, there was no need to pay for Sirius. He just went right to the “How about 6 months for $30.00 plus free streaming?” I still hemmed and hawed and threw out “How about $50.00 for a year and free streaming?”, so that I don’t have to do this every 6 months. He responded that they don’t have this option and only work in 6 month intervals. Because of my previous promotion, “Dave” had to do some finagling and charge me $50.00 (plus taxes) for all access plus streaming and then over-rebate me to make it come down to the $30.00 for 6 months (plus taxes) and as we hung up said: “as a friendly reminder, this expires on January 10, 2019, so call us back before then to see what new promotions we have. Calender follow-up in my phone for January 7, 2019 to call Sirius again. Whole process took less than 15 minutes!

So glad I read this before I called. My 8 minute phone call went exactly as stated above. My $228.53 bill was knocked down to $25 for 5 months. Just note, they don’t mail Automatic Subscription Renewal Notices on accounts under 12 month. So set a reminder on your calendar to call before your renewal date.

$31.76 included all fees and taxes for all access x 5 months. They initially sent a renewal bill for $238.00 which was ridiculous.
Heather says
I have two radios with SiriusXM and the lowest they would come down for me was $54 for six months. I even threatened to cancel and they would not budge and I think it is due to me having two radios. If they allow me to pay $30 for one radio they know I’m going to ask for that price for the second radio. I’m curious if anyone else has two radios and getting a price of $30 for all access?

I called today after they billed my account $74.19 for 3 months of All Access service. I spoke to a representative who could not cone down to an agreeable price. When I asked to speak with a supervisor i was placed on hold for a few minutes and was able to get a $44.00 credit which brought my service price for All Access down to $30.19 for 6 months of service.

I just got that same rate.

dude, thanks for the article, but 49.97 divided by 6 is $8.33 a month, not $7.99 as in your article. Please get a new calculator.
so 6 months for $8.33 a month, or 12 months for $8.25 a month, or 5 months for maybe a little over $5 a month, but after that 5 month one, they won’t offer a good price, and you have to do without for a couple of months.

I called a month early my bad. Said I wanted to cancel because of price. The he tells me I still have a month left in the 5 month promo but he can offer me the 5 month promo again. Tells me I’ll get a credit back on the ONE remaining month I have. After taxes and fees it will come out to 30 bucks but with your credit of 19 bucks your next 5 months will come out to 11 bucks. So that comes out to like 2 bucks a month just by calling a month early. Let me no what you guys come up with. Just passing the good word

Hi Bill – I have all access and just called today to cancel because my 6 month deal ran out. They had already charged my credit card for $26.25 for one month since I missed the renewal date. I told them I wanted to cancel and they gave me another 6 months for $62.52 and were able to credit me for the $26.25 so I had to pay just $40.66 additional for 6 more months. Good luck to you.
Best,

I followed the suggested customer script and called the 1-888 number noted. We have two vehicles on our single account. Like others, I got the same billing amount ($176 for five months for both cars) offered and responded that Sirius was great but the cost was excessive. It took maybe five minutes when the red offered the $30 for each vehicle for six months which I agreed to. The $2 billing fee for each car got questioned and waived. I was sixteen days extended on my prior contract and when I declined to pay that prorated because we were on holiday and had left after the end date with no notice of billing due that was also waved. Over all a pretty good experience.

my subscription ended today. i had the $30 for 6 month plan. the representative offered the $19.95/month and the $99/year. i stated i loved the service, but could not afford the price. he then offered the $25 for 5 months plus taxes = $29.95. i jumped on it. even though i would like to think i would have done this without the tips, reading them i knew it was possible to get a discounted deal.
thanks for alerting me to the power!
Fred says
Just got off the phone with a Sirius xm retention person. I had a 3 year plan for my truck & the renewal came today: $501.60 for 3 more years. No offer of lower was made, a change of plan was suggested – 1 year for well over $ 300 ++. They were uninterested that they were about to loose a long time customer
Mike says
Just called the number in the article as I do a week or so before my subscription runs out …
Last 6 months I had ALL ACCESS for $59.18
Called the number above and after negotiation the latest 6 month ALL ACCESS package will cost me $63.24 out the door (with paper bill fee waived). Be SURE to pay by check! As usual they started out with a rediculous initial offer of over $150 plus fees and taxes.
Very helpful agent on the line … they do not want to lose customers. Easy negotiation. DO NOT BE AFRAID to keep asking for a better deal but remain calm and reasonable.
Julie Helkenn says
After reading these tips I called the number and told them my subscription expires in a week and wondered what specials I could get to continue service. She went right on to offering my current subscription which is $30 for 6 months. I was happy she didn’t start high so I would have to refuse until this offer was suggested because I was ready to say my budget couldn’t afford any more than $5 a month! Very happy and yes, Sirius has me hooked! I swore I would never pay for music in my car but what does $5 a month hurt?
Beth says
I just called and got 6 months all access for $67.21, all taxes and fees included. It’s only $7 more than I paid six months ago, so I didn’t bother trying to get them down anymore. The original renewal statement was for $167 and change. The first offer from the rep was for 12 months for $200+. I don’t even remember the actual amount because I knew it wasn’t a real deal or offer and I told him there was no way I could afford that (and I can’t, even if it were a good deal, which it’s not). Then he offered the 6 months for $67.21, and i figured I didn’t want to spend another 10 or 15 minutes on the phone trying to save $7. Had them email me the invoice rather than giving my cc over the phone. I’m going to check the gift card section at the store and see if I can buy a card for exactly $67.21, that way I won’t have to worry about having my credit card on file with them, even I say “one time only” payment. My phone call was 14 minutes from the time I dialed to the time I hung up.
Dave says
I’ve been getting these deals since I bought my car in 2006, and the script varies somewhat but has been remarkably consistent over the years. Sometimes the agent will offer the good deal if I ask them to simply renew the current deal (that’s what happened today). Sometimes they say my old deal was a special promotion, not renewable, so I have to tell them I’m going to quit due to the high renewal price, then they transfer me to another agent who has greater power to grant special deals. They offer increasingly better deals, first for about $8/month, then about $7/mo (or sometimes $8/mo again but for 6 months), then finally they pull out the “6 mo for $30” deal, previously the “5 mo for $25” deal, i.e. $5/month + fees. You just have to be patient, refuse the lesser deals, and let them run through their script until you get the good one. Don’t be afraid to tell them you’d rather quit — they definitely want to avoid losing customers.
Kimberly says
I was paying 4.99 per month, now they want $241 a month, I told them that is ridiculous. I listen to 3 stations, Margaretaville, 60’s and 70’s sometimes fox news.
What a rip. the sales rip didn’t care, and cancelled me effective May 1
Kimberly says
I was paying 4.99 per month for a year. Now they want 241.00 for a year. I talked to a rep on the phone. she didn’t care at all, and cancelled my subscription as of May1st.
Don’t really know what to do
Kimberly
KaysGramma says
I called the toll free number as instructed above. I currently subscribe to the Select plan at $14.99/mo. The first offer I received was for 12 months of All Access with a single payment of $120 (plus fees & taxes), which I rejected. I was then offered two other options to choose from – the first was 5 months of All Access for $25. The second was 12 months of service on the same plan I have now (Select) at a rate of $5.99/month (plus fees & taxes). I took the last option since that comes out to $72/yr + fees and taxes, which is about 1/3 of what I pay now. I have 2 weeks left to my plan, so they pro-rated the rest of the month leaving me with a credit that means I won’t have to pay for Sirius for the next 2 months. That works for me!
Nina says
BTW They told me everyone has to pay the Royalty fees. I’m not seeing that mentioned by anyone else but me. So…Did they lie to me about that too??
Jenz says
btw – I HATE going through this dance once a year so we bypass the better 6-month deal haggle — I can’t imagine making this ridiculous call every 6 months (we’ve been subscribers for several years).
Jenz says
I called the number given above and asked to speak with a customer retention representative. The person who answered asked “what problem” I was having that needed a customer retention rep. I told him “high renewal fees” and he said he could help me with that. So, I just renewed our subscriptions (Sirius Select and XM Select) for both of our vehicles at last year’s rate. Per vehicle we’re paying $99 + musical royalty fees and taxes for a 1 year subscription ($126.16 per vehicle). I always request a new PAPER invoice so I have the terms in writing and then we pay with a check (do not want them to have our credit card number on file for automatic renewal at outrageous prices). Oh, and they told me I was 10 days past due so I would need to pay for those 10 days of access — I told them no way was I past due and paying their “past due usage” fees (I actually paid on 17April2018 because it took them time to get a new invoice to me) — they waived it.
Maria says
My experience is, before your subscription expires, you have to call the retention line number. You HAVE TO TELL THEM YOU ARE GOING TO CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. That was the only way I could get a good deal. I told them it was too expensive then they started offering me goo deals.
Nina says
Ok, so, here is my ALL ACCESS Phone Update:
Called Danny’s number, said his quote…
“Mary” tried to ask me what I listen to- Howard Stern, ESPN, etc. I told her I’d happily answer her questions after we arrived at a better price, not wanting to give her “fodder” to up-sell me. She said she could give me 50% off (from $251.88!) the main Sirius XM Service, that is, $119.88.
I told her that I needed to hear what the fees and taxes would be, so I could add them and divide by 12.
She cut the US Royalty Fee in HALF…BUT added a pro-rate for $10. since my annual was up April 1!
So… I told her to take off the pro-rate and fold-in my Royalty Fee since I listen to Oldies, and those dead people probably don’t get the Royalties, and that Sirius XM should pay it as their business cost included in our price.
Ok, so, Mary said no more credit on the Royalties…But, she took off that phony pro-rate and re-started my account at April 10.
$119.88 + 22.90 Royalty + 18.79 FL tax = $ 161.57 One Time Charge April 10, 2018.
$13.46/month Thank You, Danny.
This has now become our XM Challenge!
Chris says
Just called the numbers above and said I needed to cancel because of extremely high cost. The CSR immediately asked if I would be willing to stay with SXM if they provided me the previous promo rate that I was on (which was $109 per year for each vehicle – I have 2). While I think I could have gotten a better deal and saved more, but I travel out of the country a lot and having the reminders every six months is more effort than I want.
Nina says
Whoa! I just got billed 4/1/2018 for All Access…
SiriusXM Service $251.88
SiriusXM Service Fees- U.S. Music Royalty $48.11
Invoice Fee $2.00
State Tax $22.47
Other Tax $17.27
TOTAL AMOUNT DUE $341.73
Doing the arithmetic $28.48/month I will be calling!….
MissBrownEyes says
I called today as detailed above. I renewed a month early. After the “song and dance”, I got a month credit from my old plan and was put on a 6 month/$30 plan, so this does work (better savings than my old promotional year plan) ! Thanks Mr. Nguyen & everyone else who commented.
Beth says
How did you get it down to that amount?
Andrea says
I just called to renew my all access after my trial period ended and said I had an offer of $99 plus taxes and fees which came out to 117$ and they agreed even tho they sent me a notice in the mail saying it would be 142$ total with tax and fees. Ha! Thank you for this!
Orianpacks says
Hey Everyone. First off this works. Best call I ever had with Sirius XM. I just locked in select service for $29 For 6 months including online streaming. This is a 2nd car service so it’s cool. I will call back in a few months for my 1st car to see if I can get all access for $29. Thank you Danny Nguyen.
Alex says
Hi all,
I forgot to call & was auto-renewed on Easter for a year All Access at $191.88 +tax. I called to cancel & was prepared to do so & mentioned paying $99 +tax in 2017. They offered $109 +tax, I said “no, thanks,” they then offered $99 +tax and this one I accepted. The “dance” with them is ridiculous, so maybe next year I will indeed cancel. Good luck!
Brian says
Hey folks,
I am about to renew my All Access subscription. For those of you who did the ALL ACCESS (not the select) subscription, can you please tell me the details of how much you paid for how many months? Many of the comments here do not list the Tier of the subscription. Scott Nyugen, what Tier did you eventually renew for? It does not say in the article Thank you all very much!
Thomas says
They told me pay retail, no promo deals. They were firm could not get a lower plan.
Jim says
correct, or else they will charge your credit card without notice (or practically without notice). And if you don’t check your statements regularly (ideally I do, but sometimes I don’t see some charges) then you’ll have no idea. So ONE TIME PAYMENT is a must, don’t let them keep your card on file.
Travis says
I got 5 months for $25, then to the $10.99 monthly following that trial
Cheryl says
Got 12 months for $60 + fees/taxes = $70.33
Liz says
Just to clarify, the $60 / year deal is ONLY if you pay by credit card. I COULD NOT get them to accept check. Bummer…
Jerry says
Before my free subscription expired, I received a mailer stating the offer of $29.94 ($35.66 including fees and taxes) for six months of the Select package or $99 for 12 months. After my subscription expired, I received a call offering the same $29.94 for six months but $71.46 including fees and tax for twelve months. He said the reconnect fee ($15, I think) would be waived. I explained that I was not in my car often and would like access while in my home. He offered to include streaming (ostensibly a $5 monthly value) in the six month subscription at no extra cost, but refused to include it in the twelve month subscription. I wish I would have asked for a free radio to use in my home or in another car. Maybe next renewal.
I signed up for the six month subscription with streaming for $35.66 total and instructed him to remove my credit card information from their files after payment which he agreed to do (so he said). I think the deal includes an automatic renewal in six months but they should not be able to charge my credit card. In any event, I will try to remember to call up to cancel before then and see if there are any deals at that time. Satellite radio is not worth more than $5 a month to me.
Scott says
Just make sure to ask to do a ‘One time payment’ and don’t allow them to keep a credit card on file.
T Craner says
I called today and got Select for $60 (plus taxes and fees). Thanks for posting the information.
Bradley says
They would only allow me to take the 1 year for $60 if I would give them my credit card info…..NO WAY! Don’t give them your credit card info if possible. Just pay with check upon invoice….that way they can’t hold you hostage with your credit card…..paying cash means to ball is in your court. The only bad part is that I have to renegotiate 2 times a year instead of once a year. Good luck.
Jenny says
I just got the $60 a year offer after only a few minutes of listening to her give offers. It was very low pressure. It took longer to get all new card details set up on their end. I will set a reminder in one year to re-negotiate or the monthly goes way up. Thanks for the tip!!
Mariellen says
Easiest thing I ever did. They charged me $20.00 / month to renew and when I called retention and asked for a better rate, they gave me a credit of $9.xx against the 20.00/month and got 5 months for $25.00 I had a single radio subscription prior and ended up with full streaming for same price. Gotta love it!
GBT says
Just renewed tonight before the free trail that came with my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited expires tomorrow.
After they gave me the current offers, I said that was too expensive and to cancel at end of trial.
With that I was offered $99 for the year, again told her to cancel……and finally I was offered $60 (+ fees &taxes) for one year.
I just need to remember to call a year from today to cancel and negotiate all over again.?
Thanks Danny!
Tom says
I called and offered the lady $60 and fees for a year and she said great. 5 minutes, $71.46 with fees for the year. thanks for the information.
Chris says
I just did the same thing that Andy did and was able to renegotiate my renewal from $190 down to $60 + tax/fees for 12 months — I saved $130!!!
Andy says
Called in, spoke with Rep. (not retention) & got offers in the following order:
#1) $99 +tax/fees for 12 months — Responded that that was more per months that I was looking for.
#2) $49.97 +tax/fees for 6 months — Responded that was only .25 less per month. Asked for anything else.
#3) $30 +tax/fees for 6 months
#4) $60 +tax/fees for 12 months — this was unprompted and came immediately after #3.
I accepted offer #4 totaling $71.46 after tax/fees for 12 months.
Jim Winger says
My 1 year $60 rate was $76.05. Took 10 m and three offers.

I had called and I got what I thought was a deal of $92.07 a year but after I got off the phone with them I did some internet search and found this website.. I would like to thank you because I got 6 months for $30.00 with tax with code bvu312hw – Get 6 months of Sirius for $25.00 Existing customers, call Sirius XM to redeem.
One happy camper 🙂

2/26/2018 Got a renewal letter today. Called the CSR # provided in this site, and received 5 months/$25 plus tax & music royalty fee for a total of $31.xx. They waived the 6 days charge (my subscription expired on 2/20/2018) of $3.xx,so my new subscription begins today.
Yvonne says
I called and they automatically offered me 12 months for $60.00, which ends up $74.83 with taxes or 5 months for $30.32, includes taxes. No arguing with them like last time. Was a bery quick and pleasant phone call.
Stephany in Iowa says
Thank you for your suggestions! I wasn’t quite as lucky, but I’m still happy. It turns out I have two subscriptions…one all access I negotiated a year ago, with a free portable Sirius radio, and one for our other car. The second car is not due until July, but I was able to get the All Access package down to $120. It seems that they have had enough of these calls that they are starting to change their approach. No more sending you to “retention” department. Only first offer extended, even after asking for another offer, and complaining about commercials (complaints are now “sent to back office for review). Perhaps I just got a rep who was tired of my asking? Anyway, I enjoyed the article, and the responses.
June says
Are you paying $60/annual for “all access”?
June says
Are you paying $60/annual for “all access”?
John says
Thank you for the detailed process stated in your post… it worked perfectly… we were paying $70/quarter… now it is $60/annual… I am sure we need to “renegotiate” next year, but for now we are good-to-go! I just had to be patient and polite… Thanks!
Rosemarie says
2/20/18 just got 1 year for $60 in less than 10 minutes with no haggling.
SWEET!

Thanks for the tips, I leveraged the information you provided to change my $20+ per month subscription to the $25 for five months, and will be calling prior to it ending (and subsequently automatically renewing at a higher, 3 month rate).
Pat says
got 1 year for $60
David says
I called today Feb 15, 2018 and was able to get 1 year of Select for $60. The first deal they offered was $99 for 12 months. I turned that down. Then they tried a shorter term of 5 months for $25. I turned that down. Then they offered 1 year for $60. I took it. Thanks!
Krystal K says
I called today and got the $99 for a year after 8 years due to the commercial thing – its better than the 200+ they were going to charge – will see how it goes for the next year and may be calling them back again this time next year to actually cancel. The Rep (Vicki) that I spoke with said that there seem to be several customers calling in about commercials – If I want to listen to commercials, I will listen to FREE radio – its ridiculous to pay for commercials… at any rate – the retention center did help – hopefully it will help others! Thanks for the info and God bless!

Never give them a cc. Tell them to send you an invoice.

I had Sirius for many years… On my Honda pilot and a previous vehicle before that one. When my last subscription deal ran out and they didn’t want to give me a decent retention offer, so, I cancelled my account three years ago around early January. Bought/instated a different radio that permitted blue tooth and had Pandora. So, I pay $5/month and we have the family plan for spotify and that’s$15/month. This past November, I had a major cervical surgery and have had complications since then. My Honda pilot was dying So, I had to get a new vehicle. It took a tremendous amount of effort and pain to negotiate a vehicle deal. I decided to lease a 2017 Ford Explorer. This vehicle came with a six month trial of Sirius. So, this past December I received a great offer from Sirius. The offer was $99 for THREE YEARS. My husband called Sirius to get the subscription for me as a Christmas present… So, I was present for the call… My husband spoke to a rep and the rep said…”oh, I’m sorry, that deal is for your previous radio.”we insisted on speaking to a supervisor… That supervisor told us the sand thing… Deal is for previous radio. I asked… Do you honestly expect someone to keep the same radio and vehicle forever?? My vehicle I had the Honda for 11 years. So, I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t let us use the deal on the new vehicle which is registered in my name (vin # that you have to provide, indicates owner of vehicle and makeup of vehicle package). They offered us in the mail a week later, $15/month…. Like, really??? And, where the prohibited commercials, now there’s tons of them!
RadioWaves says
Sure you are.

My 5 months for $25 + tax was expiring (XM Select), so I just called to “negotiate”. He gave me two different one year offers which I refused, then came back with 6 months for $5.50/month. With taxes/fees (minus a small credit for remaining few days on my previous offer), the total was $36.85 for 6 months.
I probably could have pushed further, but that was good enough for me.
Amanda says
I got them down to 12 months for $60. Took a lot of persistence. I have been a customer for 7 years though.
Yvonne M says
I just renewed with them again… I have SiriusXM All Access and Traffic + Travel Link for which full price is $358.65 a year… I got them to give it to me last year for $201.86. I just called them because my subscription ends in 5 days and I got them to give me the same service for $169.08… I’m very happy!!!
Johnny says
You know why? It’s because you have a trial and representatives are not trained to retain a customer under free trial, logic. siriusxn is not gaining anything from trial subscribers so why do they need to retain them. Trust me im a siriusxm retention specialist.
Betty says
does that include traffic?I am on phone with them now.
Millie says
I spoke too soon :/ Tried logging in to my mobile device to listen and was blocked. Logged in to my account online and it turns out they renewed me at SELECT, not ALL ACCESS (as I verified multiple times before allowing them to charge me!) It is rectified now after another 30 minute phone call but wow, scummy! Sirius needs a lesson in customer service. I will be contacting some of their content providers to let them know I will not be renewing my Sirius XM in the future due to their shady practices which will result in one fewer listener/customer for their advertisers. I’ll let them know I will look for and hope to find them available on other platforms. Maybe if enough subscribers take this route Sirius will consider alternate tactics. They’re on the road to obsolete anyways with Podcasts, Pandora and Spotify (to name a few). They would do well to recognize their subscribers will not stay loyal with so many other options available with better rates and customer service.
BTW… why does Sirius have so many ads? I would think subscription radio would be ad-free?
Millie says
I received 2 vehicles All Access for a 6 mo price of $54.10 (price includes fees and taxes) I’m feeling a bit unsure that I got the “best” price they could offer as they talked about different price tiers and different credits on the two vehicles. Still, $54 is much better than the $220 they had me at for those same 6 months!
Arie DenDulk says
I called today as I had put both my radios on hiatus for an extended trip abroad. I mentioned the restore service offer and got the $30 for six months on both radios and now, like another comment, my two have the same contract end date.
Sam says
This still works. I got the exact offers listed. Chose the 5 months for $25 each for the select plan for two vehicles. Thanks for the help!
David Pittman says
Worked EXACTLY as Danny said. Only I didn’t even have to ask for retention dept. I just said I needed a better deal or I’d have to cancel. They immediately offered $99 for a year OR $25 for 5 months. Thanks Danny!!!
mthomasdo says
Made the call today. I have two cars with XM. One renews now (January 2018) the other renews in April 2018. Got them to give me All Access for both cars for a total of $40 until July 2018. Basically 9 months (3 months in one car and 6 for the other) of All Access for $40. The bonus is it syncs up both my account renewal dates so I can bargain a little harder when they come due; “I want to cancel both of my subscriptions.”
Renate says
Didn’t work for me. Trial subscription is ending in two days. Called and asked for retention dept and CS person who answered said she was from the retention dept. She asked why I was cancelling and told her I don’t use the service enough. She said it was fine and since it was a trial I don’t have to worry about automatic renewals and she cancelled the service. (The CS was outsourced to the Philippines, so I don’t know if that factored into her “script”.)
I will wait to see if I receive any new offers after my trial officially ends in two days.
Maybelline says
How do you pay the bill without giving them your CC #? I have had them not store mine but I don’t know how else to pay it.
Richard says
Just tried calling and they would not offer me the 6 months for $25. The best they would do is $119 for 1 year. I just cancelled the call. I’ll try again in a couple of days.
Julie says
So I called them I got 60 dollars for 6 months for two radios. And they refunded me 83 dollars. And demanded they delete my credit card number.
Julie says
Wow they have screwed me year after year. This year I got a deal they said for my car and our house radios for 167.28 for the year. Which I paid over the phone. And I made it crystal clear on the recorded line I paid in full for everything and I didn’t authorized any additional charges. So today I check my acct. they took 18.21 out of my acct. I called three times. They said their employee lied to me on the recorded line. I threw a fit. Said my car only was 167.28 with renewal fees and the 18.21 per month was for my house radio. I threw another fit. Ask for the recorded line agreement to be reviewed. They said someone will review it and call me in 7 to 10 days…how in this world can this be right. 30 bucks for 6 months
Tory says
Darn just settled for the $25 for 6 months for both my cars ($50). select. Plus another $49 or whatever for traffic. Really tired of playing the 6 month game with them however. I would gladly do 36 months
denise says
What year was your car; I don’t think that deal is available for vehicles after 2009
Jeremy says
I got the same deal ($30 for 6 months). I got the impression that if I held out further I might get a better deal, but to be honest, $5/month is a reasonable price for this service in my opinion so I’m not going to quibble over it.
Ben McEvers says
$30 for 6 months, no fees. When they try to add in the fees tell them to waive or no deal. I don’t know how low they will go (will work them some more next time) but they do seem to embrace the concept that some money is better than no money. DO NOT GIVE THEM A CC NUMBER.
CMG says
i havent called yet, just got a new car and will need to wait for the trial to end. But my last car… a 2005, i got a life time subscription for about 350.00… in 2005 so that lasted for 12 years. We got my husbands car in 2012, I called and told them i wanted another life time deal, they said they didnt have it, but i spent some time on the phone with them and finally got them to agree to same. i think it was about 450. So will need to find out if I can do the same thing in 3 months…. fingers crossed
jude says
Did you have a credit card on file though?
Hap Yak says
I just got the same offer after basically telling them to go eff themselves because they had jerked me around and mislead me. But let’s be real – they are sending out this offer because competition is killing them. Pandora, Spotify, et al., mean fewer people will pay their exorbitant price for car radio. To answer your question, the offer is for the Select package, so by all means wait. If it it included streaming, I might even be tempted, but I still think they’re scuzzballs. BTW, the best part of the offer – NO AUTOMATIC RENEWAL.
Keith says
Bob How did you get this deal? Keith

I just got both my cars set up for $60 a year for the select package.

Is the 36 months of service for the select package or just the music one? I just got the renewal in the mail, as my free 6 months expire in January. If I can get 36 months for the same price as the 12 they’re offering, I’ll gladly hold out a couple of months.
D Fletcher says
So, it took about 3 months to get this offer? A friend gave me the same advice…wait for your trial to end, be patient for a few months, and eventually they will send out a really good deal to re-activate.
steve says
Wow! That’s the best deal I’ve seen by far
KG says
I got 36 months for $99 and they waived the re-activation fee. Essentially, I’m paying $2.75 per month. I got the offer in an email after my subscription expired in October.

Amazing. Just did the $60 + Taxes for 12 months…..took less than 5 minutes. FYI…they do the 12 months from today’s date, and since my current sub doesn’t end for another 30 days, they credited me for that time, so my total with taxes was around $59.00

Just called and got XM Select billed monthly at $6.08 (includes taxes and fees) for 12 months for a total of $72.96 per year. Had to say the magic “cancel” word to the rep and had to pass on the $99 + taxes/fees to get this deal. They also offered the $24 + taxes/fees for 5 months but since I hate dealing with them every 5 months, I took the year deal.
Alice says
I just called & they gave me 5 different “holiday” offers for the Select package without me having to ask for anything better. 4 of the 5 worked out to be about $5.70/month, with various options for how long (12 months, 6 months, 5 months) or paying monthly vs. one-time payment.
Pearlie says
I just got a great deal on the Family Friendly Select plan: $71.75 incl. taxes & fees for a year (5.98/mo)! Very nice and helpful customer service rep, too.
Evan Best says
Did this again today, 4th time doing the “3 strikes your out…oh, wait here is our best deal ever”. Got the 5 months, but for only $20…nice!
J Lew says
I use this every 6 months, when you receive the notice wait about two weeks before you call them. The retention number isn’t necessary, any of the numbers will work. Say you’re lookingto renew service and when they are going into the details of what you owe, just say ” I know you can do $30 for 6 months plus service fees which should come to about $43.” They will hesitate and try to get you into the other plans, be patient and persistent about getting the $30 plus service fees for 6 months. They will put you on hold and “escalate your issue to a manager” they will then come back and agree to the deal. The biggest note here is to tell them to process payment as a one-time payment and to send you a bill in 6 months when it is due. This avoids your card being charged automatically and you losing the ability to negotiate the deal. Hope this saves some folks out there some money!!
Angelica Selders says
With access to the phone number you shared I just got a year of select for 60.00 plus taxes.
Patrick Lenow says
Not too late. You can cancel at anytime. Call back, say you thought it over and you can’t afford it.
Patrick Lenow says
* retain you…they did retain me.
Patrick Lenow says
Just did it again today. Been doing this for about five years. Never an issue. Very surprised they did not attempt to retain me. When they asked why did you say you can’t afford it?
Jim Howerton says
I had the opposite experience today; my trial expires in 4 days and I called to cancel. The rep I spoke to simply said “Ok” and made no effort at all to retain me. I went along with it and let them send me a confirmation email saying my account would terminate at the end of the 3 month trial period. I plan to call back to ask about lower rates but I must say I was a little surprised. I wonder if Sirius is changing its approach to the negotiation process or if I got the one rep who thought that was the way to handle it.
Mark Adams says
Just got my renewal notice in the mail…$218. Yeah, right.
How close to my renewal date should I call? It’s almost two months away….the later I call, better deal, or doesn’t it matter?
Erin says
I also went through Ebates app and got $5 rebate on the 6 month for $29.94 deal. They are currently advertising your best deal, so shouldn’t take much time to get it.
Lynne says
Man, I wished I had read this article before I renewed and got raked over the coals for 2 radios that cost me $366.02 for a year! 🙁
Iwazzabadboy says
Just called and got all access renewal for 49.99 for 6 months… Streaming and 1 car…… Asked how much it would be to add another car and she said 30 bucks…. 79.99 for all access and 2 cars aint half bad…
Karen says
Google “How to get Sirius XM in your home”. There are several ways to do it but you do need a subscription to Sirius XM. They have a package that is mostly music. You could call their 800 number or even do a live chat with a customer representative to get more information. If you go to their home page at siriusxm.com, click on the place that says ‘listen at Home’. Hope this helps.
Anthony says
Just tried this and it worked perfectly, exactly according to the script. The only thing I would add is that it seemed like the agent was trying to get me to explicitly say that I wanted to cancel because of the price. So you might want to just come out and say something like “it’s too expensive” right away and avoid a bit of a dance.
martha says
Is it possible to get Sirius XM for ones home?I would like to have it if at all reseasonable for listening music,I do not care about the news, sports etc.
Larry says
Great info. I renewed for 6 months today the XM Select for 29.95 which included all fees and taxes. I had a $14.00 outstanding balance from a previous gift card was prorated $4 for my remaining 1 month on my current subscription. I used a $50 dollar Best Buy prepaid card and will also have a $33 dollar outstanding balance towards my next renewal.
So, everything that you suggested doing works, just be patient with the CSR, Follow the steps and your good to go.
Thanks..Awesome
Erin says
I called to cancel my subscription and I was offered the 12 months for $99 ($117 with taxes and fees) deal then offered a six month plan for $58 with taxes and fees. I indicated that was the same monthly rate as the 12 month plan as such I was still not interested. Then, I was offered a rate of $4.99 ($5.96 with taxes and fees) per month that would be billed each month for a 12 month period. Considering my renewal notice quoted a rate of over $18 per month including taxes and fees I considered it a good deal and accepted it.
PTL mom says
Yes! They lowered my rate from $233.08 to $120.66. Thank you for your research. I just book marked your website to use for the future.
Christine O says
This worked for me! I got the all access package for $99 a year instead of the original bill of $286.89. Well worth the time on the phone!
Thank you
Rodney Ho says
Wow. This really worked. You are da bomb!
Joe C says
This worked great, I did not have the patience to hold out for the best deal but still extremely excited that I lowered my annual plan from $240 to $99!!!!
Goldman BallSachs says
10 minutes on the phone for 6 months at $30 plus tax is the best trick or treat I received all day, thanks everybody!
Katy says
I have had issues with them using my card to resubscribe after I let it expire. So I only pay by check anymore. That way when it “expires” I am not still getting charged. They never would discount my service with the codes as long as they had my card to hit. Do they not still continue to charge (roll over the service at the “new” higher rate) like they used to? Writing a check is SUCH a hassle.
Mike says
I was able to get 6 months for $30 (plus tax) after about 12 minutes of talking to an operator and saying I have to cancel if I can’t get that rate.
Bobby Padgett says
Any discount deals for the all access plan?
MARK says
thanks I got the 5 mos for $25+. The only downside is we need to do this again in 5 months! I tried to get 10 mos. for $50 but no go…
RichG says
Worked like a charm. XM Select. At first, rep claimed $99/12 month plus fees (total about $125) is “the best offer he can make”. It was a little challenging to get him to go from $99/12 to $50/6 but once I countered that it was essentially the same rate, it was easy to get him to move from $50/6 to $25/5.
Eddie A says
I thought that paying almost $350 a year for two radios in both my wife’s vehicle and mine was insane. The rep asked me why I was going to let my subscription expire, I told her that in the beginning I paid for commercial and talk free radio. Now they have as many commercials as regular free radio. I told them I would let my subscription expire, then I’m sure they would contact me and make me a huge offer. So it was cut off yesterday, now I wait to see. If not, then i’ll open a new subscription under my wife”s name.
Jamie says
Works even better than you say! I was behind for using the service for a month before they turned it off. The rep said that I was only eligible for a promotional rate if I got an email. I “said” I had an email offering 6 months for $30. She scrolled through the “available offers” after asking me what I would do if there weren’t any (to which I replied that I would definitely need to cancel, of course). She offered the first two as you said the “miraculously” came up with the made up offer I told her about. When told I would have to pay $28 as well for the month I hadn’t paid I told her I couldn’t so she put me on hold and came back saying that she could wipe the old balance out as well. Wound up with a total of 7 months for $30. Perfect!
Robert K. Dillenbeck says
WOW!. Dealing with SiriusXm over renewal in the past & outrageous price increases has been a PITA. Glad I googled & found you blog as to how to deal with them & phone # posted in blog. My renewal for a year went from $227.22 to 117.73. Posted phone went through directly with no phone tree & no wait on hold.
THANK YOU! for your blog info, may have to use again next year.

Amen. I completely understand your sentiments when it comes to negotiating.
JP says
wow, for the first time, I didnt have to jump through hoops to get the reduced fee, they offered it right out of the gate once I said I want to continue with my current rate- with taxes and fees it came to $30.48 for 5 mo and the call took exactly 8 min!
JMCeattle says
Worked perfectly! Thanks for sharing!
Doug says
Danny thanks for writing this up. Now I know that I don’t want to subscribe to XM radio, ever. I confess that I absolutely despise negotated pricing. I wish companies would offer a good price – a fair price, and then refrain from raising it 300% after 6 months or whatever. But negotiated pricing is seemingly everywhere now… internet service, trash removal service, phone service, XM radio service, and it is such a waste of time. The fact is I am a very shy introvert, and it takes a tremendous effort for me to pick up the phone and call someone. If I can get up the muster to do that for XM radio service, then I am done for the day and I won’t want to talk to anyone else – not for anything. I mean not for work, not even in the case of a medical emergency. I’d almost rather die than pick up the phone. So a service that requires me to make a phone call every few months just to keep getting a fair price is not attractive to me at all. I’d fully remember to make the call when the deal was up, but I just wouldn’t do it – and I’d get gouged on the pricing, and I wouldn’t be happy about it at all. It would become just another source of depression and wasted money.
Melanie Rogers says
Do you have to have all access for Howard stern?
John says
$5.14 total for each month for 5 months for 10 minutes of (Sirius Select). Went through the usual–no, no, no, – then got the right deal
Mel says
oh – this was on the “Select” plan.
Mel says
I also got the $99 “Year Special” as soon as I said I wanted to cancel my subscription because renewal rate was too expensive. With tax and fees $115 for the year. Much better than $219!! This is the 2nd year in a row I was able to renew at lower rate.
Laura says
I called today, 10/7/17, and they offered me the $99/year rate again. 🙂 Very happy. It was easy. The rep was friendly.
Donn says
I just called 888-601-6302 and told the CSR that I wanted to renew my current rate of $34.00 for 6-months and that my friend just renewed his account for $34.00. The CSR had to talk with “The Supervisor”. After waiting a couple of minutes the CSR said the $34.00 rate was approved.
Angie says
Thanks SO much for this info! My annual select subscription was about to go up to $218!!! I was going to ask for a lower rate anyway, but your article helped me get the same great deal as you. I followed your advice and got the $25 for 5 month offer. Thanks!!
tina johnson says
888-601-6302 i just renewed for $34 for 6 months – just keep asking for lower rate.

what number did you call
Alex F says
Awesome! Thanks for the blog post. My call just went like this:
They offered me $99/year to renew for the Select Plan. I said no.
They offered $50/6 months to renew for the Select Plan. I said no.
I asked if there was a way I could get that deal of $50/month for the All Access plan?
He said no, but there was an offer of $120/year for All Access (equiv. to $60/6 months).
So, it was not the best deal. I’m sure I could have gotten the $25/5 months, but I would like to try the All Access and see if I use it more as right now I really only use Sirius/XM for XM Volume, and once in a while a few of the decades channels, esp since they changed Faction from punk to Nu-Metal 🙁 Grrrr! So I think $120 (it was like $134 and change after taxes, etc.) for a year isn’t bad for All Access!
And BTW, my CSR was really great. Super helpful and nice!
cdp says
After your 6 months for $30 is up, you can call back and get the same promo for another 6 months. After taxes and fees still only about $80 a year. If you consider a 5-10 minute phone call worth $50 of “drama” then this is a viable option.
Ginger says
Thanks for this advice. Renewed on 9-26-17. First customer rep said I had no option but to cancel and then resign up. I said NO to that, and just re-phoned them. Got another service rep who was able to give me the $99/year price. I didn’t want to have to call back in 5 or 6 months, so the 1 year plan was good enough for me.
Steve says
according to the article streaming can only be added to the 10.99 package for 4 dollars more a month….can’t be added to the select package at all and is included in the premium package…..
Steve says
Well the way I understand it if you get 6 months for 29.99…then they add royalties and taxes and it becomes 38 bucks….then after the 6 months they automatically charge you 15.99 plus royalties and taxes a month which for 6 months makes it around 100 bucks for that 6 months so for a year it would be 138 bucks….give or take a few…..or you can pay for a year right off the bat and it runs 128 with lots less drama…….
Martha Gray says
just got a renewal for car-office-home for 6 months for $50.00 TOTAL
Michael says
I just signed up as a new subscriber for the 5 months select package. With the additional fees, the total price was $30.45 for 5 months. I paid using a Sirius XM gift card bought at Best Buy because I have heard it’s not a good idea to give your credit card details to Sirius.
But now I have realized this does not include home streaming. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can add home streaming for a reasonable price? (avoiding paying the full price)
Eugene says
Hello-Thank you for the above information. At first they wanted full price and then I said I wanted to cancel on the two cars. Then she gave me the same price I had 6 months ago. 6 months for$32.34 includes taxes.
Robin Negrotto says
Just called, followed your advise & got 5 months for $25. Call took about 4 minutes! Thanks for having this web site!

The customer service rep was a jerk.

The best I could do for all access was $50 for six months. I need all access to get channel 90.
Rosemary says
Wow! This worked great! Been a subscriber since 2012 and been overpaying every year. Got 5 months for $25 in less than 5 minutes for 2 vehicles! Thank you so much!!

What packages is this price good for? Is price (5 months at $25) good for the all access package?

I need to remember to ask about the online deal
Andy says
Just got $30 for 6 Months as the 1st offer when I called. Asked about Internet Streaming/App & they offered it free, as a 6 month trial. $34.10 after fees. This was my 3rd renewal.
Scott says
I worked today for me. I spent about 5 minutes on the phone to get the 5 month for $25 plus fees/taxes package. Thank you for the tip.
Sean A. says
8 minutes $37.58 for select service with NAV/traffic. Woohoo!! Thank you so much for this guide. Much appreciated. Went exactly as described
Francis says
I have followed this nearly identical procedure for 15 months. I don’t enjoy it, but would not pay for the service otherwise. I always receive the 5 months for 25.00 dollars plus I have to add nav and weather (Cadillac Cue/GM Nav) with taxes and fees totaling 45.50 for 5 months. This time (the third time I’ve received this offer) I just followed your guide and it was a far shorter phone call, and worked exactly like your playbook above. It was step by step what you posted above.
Thanks!
Jim says
I got the 5 months for $25 then I asked about “bvu312hw” ($25 for 6 months) and was told it’s no longer available. He offered me 6 month for $30 and gave me a $5 discount. This is the best deal I’ve gotten in the 2 years I’ve been renewing this way.
Robert says
Just called to cancel and instead accepted the 5 month/$25 promotion. Woo-hoo!
Mike says
This is the second time I’ve had to go through this procedure. I’m signed up for another 5 months. It was easier this time since I had your message in front of me and didn’t feel as confused or intimidated as I did the first time when I was being transferred from department to department.
Jerry says
The promotion is still good for 5 months for $25.00. It took me about 14 minutes of saying no before it was offered. Not sure I am looking forward to doing this again in 5 months though.
Kel says
Did that include the Howard Stern channels?
Nancy says
Worked like a charm!!! got the $25 for 5 month deal.
You just have to stay firm with your message of “I can’t afford that.” and she followed your script just as you stated above.
Thank You!!!
E-Monster says
Just called and got the 5 months for $25. Said I wanted to cancel since I don’t use it that much and the renewal rate was too expensive. Was offered the 1 year promo….I said I can’t do 1 year deal since my lease is expiring in just under 5 months. (Lease expiring in less than a year is true, 5 months….maybe not). Offered me the 6 month deal, said that was still too long. Then she made it a little interesting…..said that was the best she could offer, so she would start the cancellation request, probably knowing that I was just playing the game and pausing to see if I’d accept the 6 months offer. I said ok to the cancellation, figuring I could always call back. She put me on hold for about 15 seconds, then came back and claimed that a rare promotional rate “just popped up on my screen” for $25/5 months. So stay strong. Remember you can always call back and get a different rep to try again. Was on the phone with them for 8 minute and 8 seconds.
Jeffery Barnes says
Worked like a charm, just like you saido ,5 months for 30 bucks all in. Thanks alot great way to save a little money.

I have a two radio plan and need to add a 3rd car making the plan for 3 radios. Any suggestion on how to work a deal for this? My plan is up in October and the free trial on the new car is up in October. XM has already contacted me once by phone and I did not add the new car at that time.
Mark says
Yes on the DJ talk. Not all the music channels have DJs. Hey, how about dump them all? Like Music Choice.
Bebe Enteo says
I’ve always gotten a discount using the steps you outline, by call the Retention department works. It is much better than calling the other toll free numbers, because the Retention department is in North America; once I got someone in Oklahoma, and the next someone in Canada. Either way, it was less than 10 minutes and has worked every time! I’ve been a subscriber almost 5 years.
The only suggestion I have is to use a Sirius XM gift card to pay. You can buy these at Best Buy. Without using a credit card, they tell you that there’s a $2.00 invoice fee, but I always avoid this by calling the Retention department and re-negotiating about a month before the due date. And they read you the conditions, “…you must call to cancel and you will be renewed at current rate…”, blah blah blah.
Great advice. Now, Sirius XM has to find a way to have the DJ’s not talk so much!
Bryan says
My last 5 months for $25 was just ending, I was just able to secure again the same deal 5 months for $25 plus taxes = $30.17. I just set a calendar reminder in 4.5 months to call again before the auto re-bill comes to me! Total time on phone 10 minutes.
Sara says
Thanks! Just go the same deal as Mr. Mike. Thank you again for all the tips. Worked perfectly!
Mr. Mike says
I accepted the All Access for 6 months at $56.94 including all fees. The original off was $136.54 for 1 year with all fees.

THANK YOU!
I followed your STEP 3 instructions and the CSR jumped right from the $99 for 1 year to $25 for 5 months! So easy!
Karen says
Easy peasy! I did exactly what the directions said and got offered 6 months for $30.00 plus fees and taxes which came to a total of $34.96!
DKPSkipper says
Just did the 12 for $99. They still wanted to tack on the “invoice fee” of $2 and I told them that I would charge a $5 check writing and handling fee.
Do this before your subscription runs out.
You probably won’t get someone who had English as their 1st language.
Gene says
Great advice, I settled for the All Access $49 for 6 months. I have done this twice now and you have to actually say the magic words: “I am going to cancel my subscription”.
Once you say that, the discount offers are presented. Until you say that, they keep trying to get you to purchase a full price offer.
Mel says
Thanks! Great advice, painless, and fast. Took the $49.97 6 month rate and will simply call back when I receive the auto-email renewal notice.
Debbie says
I just called and got 5 months for $25 plus taxes and fees. I used the chat by computer and I think that was pretty easy! Now I just have to remember to call before the 5 months is up so they don’t charge me full price! I did ask for the 6 months for $25 but they said that offer is not out there.
Erika says
You rock, Bank Dude! This worked as you said it would! They initially offered $120/year for the all access package, then 6 mos. for $50. They did not offer anything beyond that but it brought down my renewal rate from $23/mo. to about $9. I’ll take it! Thank you so much! You help so many people save $$!
LindaJoy says
I have been calling this retention tel. number for nearly 2 years now… last time I paid only $25 plus taxes for 6 mos. Called today and threatened to cancel. She first offered me $99 for a year….then it was $94….told her I wasnt going to pay more than the $25 that I paid last time… She kept saying it wasn’t available.. Finally, she offered me $30 with taxes, came to $35.90 for 6 mos. I was tired negotiating and since this was still far better than the $99 a yr. deal, I went with it.. ONE TIME credit card use…and service is extended ’til Jan. 20 2018. Definitely worth making this call to save money on Sirius! So,,,,i have reminder on calendar to call again mid-January to get another discounted 6 mos. Highly recommend using this phone number to save $$$ !
Lf4tune says
well written blog BankDude! I need to keep this bookmarked and on hand since I tend to need the reminder about how easy it is to get the discounts. Thanks
Susan says
I just called to cancel my first deal of 5 months for $25 last night. You are right. He finally offered me the same deal after I kept turning down the other deals you mentioned. You just have to stick to your guns so to speak. Don’t give in. Remind them that you are a loyal customer but that it’s just not cost efficient.
Joy says
I could not get the 5 for $25. I negotiated from $54.64 for 3 months to $39.96 for 5 months, fees included. One time , no auto renew, no payment for 16 days past expiration.
codog says
Good advice, I go with the 1 year for 99 just because I dont like remembering to call every 6 months. This was pain free and took less than 5 minutes. Also, I do not keep my credit card on file with them so they can not auto renew, this also forces me to make this call annually.
Pierce Love says
Called and told them I was cancelling, not going to pay the $120 or so they wanted me to for renewal. They offered $99 for a year, then $50 for 6 months and then I told them I was cancelling. Then they offered me 6 months for $29.99 with taxes and fees it came to around $38 and change. Then he tried to tell me I owed for the service I had not paid for from June 1st when my service expired. Told him they were crazy and that was not going to happen. Said he would check with his supervisor who got it waived. Got 6 months for $38 and change after taxes and fees starting from today. Make sure to tell them to use your card for a one time payment to avoid them charging the absurd renewal amount. Have had Siruis/XM for years and every time I get the same deal with a little bit of effort and about a 2 minute phone call.
Julie H. says
This worked exactly as written! With a little finesse and some silent pauses, the customer service rep. offered the $30 for 6 month rate once I listened to the other options and said, “Well I was hoping to get something in line with what I had before, the $30 deal.” He gave it to me immediately. Thanks for the guidance Bankdude!
William Gary says
With no problems at all signed up for another six months for $30 plus taxes.
Declined the year package then the support staff asked me if I wanted to continue current rate of $30, I said, “Yes”. Took about 5 minutes.
Cara says
I was charged $310 for automatic subscription renewal for All Access for one year (in my husband’s car and all mobile devices). This was three weeks ago, but my husband doesn’t closely monitor his credit card like he should and didn’t notice! I called Sirius to cancel, told them the rate is out of our budget. He immediately countered with an offer of $20/month + fees for the year for All Access, which resulted in $140 being credited back to my credit card. No haggle and no wait. The whole phone call was less than five minutes.
Ultimately what I paid (as recurring customer) was $170 for All Access for one year. That’s $14/month well worth it for all the channels we enjoy especially on road trips.
Liz Pham says
Thanks for that caution – hopefully all our readers keep calendar reminders in case they are skimping out on reminders this time around.
Patrick says
$99 rate offered right off the bat, I could probably have haggled for the lower rate but I don’t want to have to call them that often to manage it. I got a good price, less than half what they billed me for the renewal. One word of caution, I used to key off of the post card letters they sent out each year around renewal time, but put it into my calendar just in case. Good thing, I did not receive any postal mail, or emails this year about my renewal.

Bought a used truck w/3 mo. close to expiring.Have another car with terminated service that I would like to re-activate. What does anyone think? Can only drive one at a time so do you think I can get a deal?
Mari says
I cancelled a couple months ago because I wasn’t going to have a car for a while. Got my car back, logged in today and the 5 months for $25 deal was sitting right there. Didn’t have to call in. Probably took 2 minutes to activate because all my info was saved. Great to be back!
Aubrey Monckton says
I called the customer service number of 866-432-4667. The customer service was awful and I had to argue with the CSR for a bit. She asked me if I wanted to cancel and I said no, I want a deal. Finally, I had to probe about the $25 for 5 months and she said oh yes that’s available. It was a silly conversation and the CS really is horrendous, but ultimately this frustrating phone call saved me $20 a month. Not too shabby!!! Thanks for the tips!

Have 3 months free of SeriusXM in our new car purchase which will exppire on 8/1. Received an offer in the mail today to exten for 6 months for the price of 2—-$29.94. Requires you to call. Offer details says it will automatically renew after the 6 months at the then-current price. You can cancel by calling 866-635-2349. Not sure how far in advance you must place the call to either cancel or if they will let you renew again at the reduced price at that time.

Angela-can you provide the # you called and a little more details please? I just called and tried to get the 12 @ $58.12 and they said they didn’t have it or the 5 mo @ $25 any longer. For several yrs I’d call in and say I’ll only renew if I got the 6mos for $25 and they gave it to me every time until yesterday. The lady didn’t budge so I canceled. She did offer the 6 mos for $30 but after taxes fees it would end up $40. I want the 6 mos for $25 back
Jack says
Their phones are jammed and callback/wait times are insane, so I decided to use online chat with them. Only waited about 10 minutes, and ended up getting 6 months for $36 for Select package. I’m a new subscriber and he took all my info and set up my account, too, to be invoiced later (no CC info over chat). No negotiating; I just mentioned that I had heard 6 months/$30. I had the chat session emailed to me for my records. Seemed too easy 🙂
Jim says
Great to get the retention number – saves time not to have to make initial call! Been playing this game with retention for many years. I usually get the 1 year service for $99 + royalty fee. Maybe next time try the 5 or 6 month plan. It is afterall only 5-10 minutes of time.
Ben says
I just called 855-534-3303 from the email I got on my renewal offer. previous renewal was $273 and I told the guy it was too much and didn’t think I wanted to renew. He came back with $131 for the all access plan, including all fees so I took it. Entire process took less than 5 min, I probably could have haggled some more but thought that was a pretty fair deal. probably my 5th year in a row of doing this as well.
Doug says
May 31, did the dance from 1 yr @ $99, to 6 mo @ $49.60, to 5 mo @ $25. You have to tell them you will end the service unless you get a rate you can live with.
Mike says
Moderator, this comment was not meant for Delle.. It was meant for all.
Mike says
Please state if your plan is XM-Sirius or Sirius when giving info because it seems they treat these plans differently and have diff promos too.
Mike says
That’s a bit high… many are getting 6 mo for $25 or $30 except twice per year haggling is a PITA. The normal renewal I see is 10.99/mo without haggling for all access XM. Seems the cars with the Sirius plans have an easier time for some reason.
Delle says
Please advise what number you called to get this same rate as last year. I did the “live chat” and it was impossible to get anywhere.
Bob Zim says
Do the rates quoted here ($99, $50, etc) include the Music Royalty Fee? I am guessing not. Aware there any other fees/taxes that get added on? Thanks to all in advance.
Jennifer says
Just got 5 months $25. My husband was having a hard time getting the deal so I called. Told the guy I loved his accent and it worked. Got the deal. I don’t know why it’s so hard sometimes. They should just give us the deal, no questions!
Tony Runfalo says
Got my renewal for Sirius XM ALL ACCESS for the same promo rate I had last year: 12 months for $120 + tax. I can access all channels in my car and streaming.
Angela says
I had a 3-month promotion ending tomorrow, so I called today. Received 12 months @ $58.12. Took them up on that deal. I have been calling in FOR YEARS every 6 months to renew on the 5 months/$25 promotion. This is the first time they’ve ever offered anything different.
Chris H. says
This worked exactly as described. My call lasted about 5 minutes. My 6 months for $30 promotion ended in February of 2017 which has resulted in me paying $19.99/month since.
I was offered the standard three 12 months @ $99.99, 6 months @ $49.99 and then 5 months @ $25.99. Obviously took the 5 month deal and placed a reminder on my calendar to call back 2 days prior to the subscription ending.
THANKS
Mine says
And thank you for the play-by-play which will definitely help many.
Mike Mongo says
It worked. Suddenly discovered I had been charged around $125 for past six months (whoops missed THAT one) and then $25 a month starting a month ago.
First, they removed last month’s charge. “Let’s move forward. What do you want to do, sir?”
Second, they offered $99 for next six months. I told CSR I was reading many people’s testimony about getting 6 months for $30 last week.
Third, after “talking with supervisor three (3) times”–ha!–he came back with six months for $30. I put the date in my calendar, and I am paying by invoice rather than giving my card over phone. (Another $2.) Bill came to $41 w/taxes etc for six months. Win! Thanks, everyone/HustlerMoneyBlog!
Carla Carroll says
After numerous times on hold to check with the “senior specialist” I got charged $28.46 for 5 months
Sue says
I also had a bit of a battle and refused the $99 + fees and taxes for XM Select. It is a few days before mine would expire…. I always use the line “I have to think about if it’s worth it or I need to discuss with my spouse” so I don’t get cancelled right away. I finally said I want 6 months for $36. They came back with 5 months for $25 + fees and taxes and for both of my radios (a second radio expires next month). I think it’s only for the “Family Friendly” package but it works for me. I’ll have to do it again in 5 months but will check this site again. Thanks so much for all the information.
Scott says
I was offered the “magical” $25 for 5 months (or $30 for 6 months), BUT, then it then went month to month at $15.99 per month.
Crazy Catlady says
Thanks for these great tips! I did get the $25 for 5 months; it repeats monthly after the first 5 months (at $4.99/mo). I asked specifically if they had “something like $25 for 5 months” and although she ran the other options by me, I was all sorts of delighted when she said “Yes, you qualify for $25 for 5 months”. A nice surprise when something works like it is supposed to and you save a bucket of bucks!! : )
Mike says
I think these days you might actually have to let the subscription lapse for less hassle. I let my subscription lapse and 2 days later when I signed back into my Sirius account there was a section regarding deals to reactivate inactive radios. I got 29.99 for 6m of select and I printed the screen online that said 6.44 monthly thereafter. When I got the confirmation email it said 10.99 thereafter so I was glad I had a screen shot and I called to have it noted on my account. Not sure if they will honor as the SHOULD in 6 month but I will let you know…PS, this is after many renewals…no idea how many – years.
Sarah says
I think they getting more and more hardnosed about renewals. Really can’t tell with these comments if this is a 1st renewal or like me a 3rd renewal, maybe people could indicate? My 1st Renewal was @ $99/12 mo, did online, when the original term ended. 5 months ago I got the $25 renew. Today was a 22 minute call and it was not easy, it was a fight. You’ve had a promo rate, you can’t have another. Check my resources (heard this one 2-3 times), there are no promotions. Best is $15.99; I threw out yes there are because I’m reading what people have gotten on Internet and it includes re-renewals. Let me check with Senior Account Specialist. Can move you from Select to Mostly Music for $10.99. NO! let me check again. She came back on the phone snickering (which I called her on) and said there’s nothing. It was all a game; put me on hold, pretend you’ve talked to someone and laugh about it. Somewhere I threw out I wanted U.S. Retention, she kept putting me on hold and coming back, and I kept repeating this and she says she is Retention. Finally I get this magic promo of 12 month for $99 (122.68 fees). Told her no …. finally got 6 month select for 49.50 (60.06 fees) Made her give me credit since my service doesn’t end for a few days. Let her put my credit card on file again since it saved me $2. I don’t feel bad for fighting for a better rate, I’m just disgusted I have to do it. I’m one of the people who with my previous car paid full price, so again I won’t feel bad for paying less. Good Luck and hope this helps you!
LB says
Did you read the fine print? They will automatically renew you in 6 months at the then-current rate.
Linda Kienzle says
I too just cancelled after my trial. No deals offered no matter what I tried. Wow.
Rob says
I just called and got 1 year for $114.75 including all taxes and fees. They offered a 6 mo plan for half that price. I asked if they was a better deal, but they didn’t offer the 5 month plan. It took all of 10 minutes to do.
Tiffany says
11 minutes- offered $99 for 1 yr, then $48 for 6 mos, then $25 for 5 mos, in pretty quick succession. I took the latter and will call again in October to get the deal again.
A friend says
So now you can go to https://www.siriusxm.com/turnitbackon?intcmp=GN_HEADER_NEW_Subscriptions_SubscribeNow_TurnMyRadioBackOn and get 6 months for $30+tax under the “inactive radios” special.
L-A says
Just called and said i wanted to cancel my subscription because of the renewal price being too high. I was immediately offered the $99/1yr deal but I said it was still too costly. I then asked if there was something cheaper by way of 6 months, and I wound up with $43.70 / 6 months (including taxes an royalty fees) plus they thew in the internet radio free.
Poe says
I received a deal for 6 months for $29.94, $34.10 with taxes and fees.
Mike says
I tried and now I have a cancelled radio.. Best was $58 for 6m and $120 for 1y…. Well, they now lost a customer. Call 10 minutes and it was her who said she was sorry but if this deal does not meet my expectations, I would have to cancel the service. I called her bluff to find it was not a bluff.
Matt says
I only drive my car about 30-minutes a day. $15-$20/month is way too much to spend. But if it was $8 month I would keep it all the time. The phone call I just made was $114.75 for a year. It was a tough phone call…. haggle-haggle-haggle….. Serious-ly just make a online deal that’s cheap and retain so many customers and eliminate customer service reps that are difficult to understand…..
Kent B. says
Worked like a charm! With three subscriptions – two of which were coming up for renewal, next month – it took about 10 minutes to save nearly $225/annum.
Sandra says
This has been fun, they wanted to charge $200 per year! They then offered $120 year, I said no! Then he offered $92 with fees for the year. I said no, the 6 months fee is cheaper, he was trying to talk me out if that since it might not be available in another 6 months when mine expires, I told him that I didn’t care. I Ended up with 6 months for $34.10 with all fees. I do the same each year with Comcast.
Jeremiah Puckett says
You have to plan ahead for this, but instead of paying for a paper bill and worrying about a rebill if you forget to call in 6 mo, pick up a prepaid Visa card at the grocery store for $50. Use it to pay for you renewed XM, then convert the remainder to an Amazon gift card. Amazon lets you choose the amount of your gift card to the penny, and then you can apply the gift card to your own account and spend it at your convenience.
This method costs a couple bucks, but makes a rebill impossible.
Amy says
I called today because I received a renewal letter for 6 months service $50.70. I called to let them know I was not interested in renewing. After several rounds of negotiations and being put on hold to get approval from his manager, I was approved for 5 months of service for $25.
Tom Corcoran says
My “All Access” was due to expire on May 1, 2017. Called the general number, agent was very pleasant and told me that my plan was not available for any promotions. I thanked her and immediately called the retention phone number listed in Danny Nguyen’s article. The agent that answered told me I could renew at last year’s rate for 12 months, a savings of over $150.00 from rate quoted during first call. Easy-peasey. Bottom line is they really don’t want to lose a paying customer. Total time for both calls was approx. 8 minutes. Life is good. Thank you Danny!!!
Jo says
You then hang up call back & get a different CS agent willing to work with you!
I have gotten this deal for my dad & my husband multiple times you just hold out & dont give them a CC i pay $2 to send me a paper bill i go thru billpay, then they cant auto renew for $200 if you miss the call in date
Brenda says
Worked great – got 5 months for $25 plus taxes and fees! It really isn’t worth the full price. Someone mentioned to me that the music sounds “flat” on XM. Didn’t understand what they meant until I was flipping stations on the radio and heard the same song on FM and XM. Big difference – I then understood how “flat” music is on XM Still good for variety at the right price!
xm 321 says
6 mo for $36 including fees and taxes
Chuck says
I just renewed mine for 6 months at $5/month for a total of $33.94 including fees. This is the 4th year on my 2013 Chevy that I have done this. A pain to call every 6 months but a big savings over their regular rate. With Pandora and my cell phone, I am ready to cancel if I don’t get this deal.
jolette says
I tried this and it did not work. I declined their first offer and they said, sorry to hear that and proceeded to process my cancellation.
Marietta says
It worked! I told them we really didn’t need XM and I’m willing to let it all go. She offered 3 tiers and this was the 3rd offering. Good going. Thank you for the tips.
Diane says
I’ve been renewing in this manner since 2013. It’s good to know through your post that the same deal is still being offered and that Sirius’ script has remained unchanged. It’s a pain calling every 5 months, but worth it for $5/month. Another number for retention department: 866-635-2349. Thanks for your informative and detailed post.
XM listener says
Worked like a charm… 5 months for $28.14 (taxes and fees) but keep in mind that this offer they have is the middle package and NOT the “All Access” package
Jill Makstaller says
Worked!! 4/8/17
Juniper says
That was easy! My new car trial ends 04/11/2017. I asked for the 5 for 25.00 and he said I’ve got 6 for 29.94 plus tax. Works for me basically the same price per month. Thanks!
Brian says
Worked like a charm. My account was even suspended. Told the first CSR thatanswered that I received an offer in mail 5 months for $25.00 (which I didnt LOL!) No question asked renewed $25.00 +tax for 5 months
Steve in Lakeville MA says
Thank you! My renewal fee was going to be $218.55. I called and got the $25 for 5 month deal. Almost $30 with taxes etc. It was easy and I was on the phone for less than 10 minutes. much appreciated!
Nicole says
I received 6 months of Sirius Select for $30 before taxes. After that my card will be billed $6 per month. Works for me! Thanks for your article 🙂
greg says
Is there a way to get a deal on the apps?
Rick Veazey says
I have been on the $25 special and it expires on 4/3/17. I just called and got the same rate for the next five months. It took about 14 minutes total from start to finish.
Phil Adikes says
I just did it for 2 cars.. the Select Package .. but it autorenews at the regular rate in 6 months so I have to remember to call back then.
Mark says
worked for me on 3/29/2017. great write up. Thanks.
tammy says
just did it and it worked 3/27/2017 thanks
Scottyboy says
offered 19.99/mo for yr or the 6mo, select channel plan and that’s it. And I called twice. I like the service just didn’t get a CSR that would help.
Bob D says
Oops..What I meant to say was $30 TOTAL for 6 months
Bob D says
$30/month for 6 months for select. worked exactly like you said! Thanks! Bob
CHEW BACCARAT says
Was offered 10/month for all access 12 month subscription.
Carolyn says
Got my renewal for home and car radio $363….crazy ridiculous! Just called like you said and BOOM!!! Got both radios for $25 for 5 months! Thanks so much!
Doug says
I just called and they read through the deals, 12M/$99, asked the rep what else, he said 6M for $48, asked him what else, he kind of chuckled and said 5M for $25. I have two subscriptions and was able to get the $25 deal on both cars.
Matt C says
Just did the same thing and got $25 for 5 months. Good deal!
Ken says
I assume all these prices are for select ,not all access
teresa G says
Well, they would not offer (or honor when requested), the $25 for 5 months. They offered me 12 months for $112 (that includes tax) and 6 months for $54.60 for 6 months. When I questioned the woman as to why it cost more for 12 months when you break it down by month, than it cost for 6 months she said “well it saves you from having to call us every 6 months for the best price”. When I asked about the $25 for 5 months, she told me that since I had just had that offer, I couldn’t get it again (that’s a crock since a friend of mine gets it every time they call).
Chiz Ables says
We pay $25 for 6 months for each of our cars – 2 cars. So that is $100 a year for 2 cars. But we got this deal last December. Now this $25 for 6 months has gone up to $30.
You need to call back and insist on the latest promo or you will cancel. I do it every 6 months.
So you can get your 2 cars with Sirius for $120 a year. You should not be paying $222.
You should call now and say you want that deal or you will cancel. They will credit your account for your previous charge and reinstate this $30 rate. They will do it. I have done it many times.
499 is less than 500 says
ummm, you were offered $4.99 a month for 6 months without even having to pick up the phone… why would you spend 10 minutes on the phone to spend more money and for a shorter term?
How is this a better deal?
Dennis Balog says
my $87.12 per year went to $191.72 per year. I can’t justify that!
Leo S says
Thanks so much for this – amazing the prices are exactly the same – she went thru the 3 options exactly as stated so i got $25 for 5 months and will call and cancel again then !
michael leibowitz says
Hang in there – just refuse – ask for supervisor – tell him you’ll have to cancel – they will transfer you to someone who just gave me five month rate including taxes of $30,46.
Steve says
I’ve been paying $25 / 6 months for the past years. Every 6 months I threaten to cancel and they eventually offer me this same deal. Today, though, they immediately offered $30/6 months. I refused, and said to just cancel my service, and they hung up on me.
I think the guy thought he’d cut to the chase, and get me to take the semi-okay deal. The call center likely works on commission, and he probably figures that wasting time on other deals isn’t worth it.
Don says
Thanks to your comment…………..I called and received the same deal!! Pretty smooth transaction!!
kathleen says
I just saved $113.65 and it took me 13 minutes. You did need to be patient and specific. I asked for the retention dept and asked if there was a promotional rate they could give me. She asked it there wasn’t a promotional rate was there anything else I would want. I asked for a discount since I have been a long term customer. She said if there wasn’t a discount she could give me was there anything else. I said that I was not working due to medical reasons (true) and we would hate to have to give it up. She asked how we liked it. I told her we loved it and my husband listens to the music and comedy channels on the way to work. Then she put me on hold for a few moments and came back with a half price offer. I took it, because I thought it was fair. There was a disclosure she needed to read but encouraged me to call back again before the subscription is due next year to see if there are any other offers they may have.
Kim says
Just did it today…
* It took me 20-25 minutes. But I’ll tell you. It’s all worth it.
* Call SiriusXM
* First ask about your bill. Let the representative explain your bill or history of your bill.
* After that ask the representative if they can offer you a promo (You need to be specific for them to grant it)
* And then they will offer you different kinds of packages. Just listen to the representative. And after that just be consistent on the promo that you wanted.
* And then the representative will put you on hold and when they get back they can process your request which is the promo.
* Now you can pay by using your credit card or debit card.
Special notes :
* Just pay one time payment. Tell the representative that you don’t want to save your card. (for them not to automatically deduct after your promo ended *like what they’ve done to my card* )
* The specific promo I mention is like 6 months for $30 plus taxes and the other one what I have right now is 1 year for $100 additional of taxes.
* DON’T MENTION THE WORD CANCEL. You just need to be consistent of what promo you wanted to have.
* On the next time that you will deal with SiriusXM when your promo ended just remember this things …..
BE CONSISTENT. HAVE ENOUGH PATIENCE. DON’T MENTION THE WORD CANCEL. BE SPECIFIC ON THE PROMO.
Jay says
I called the retention department as you suggested and instead of paying $423/year for 2 cars I paid $222. So you saved me $200 this year!
Thanks so much!

Just Called , my bill for one year was 220.55, i got 5 months for 25.00 and then enrolled in the 3 month for 56.64, i will be calling to renegotiate before my 5 months is up!
Thank you…

41.56 for 6 mos. all access (also had a separate credit of $15 from online support) – took 25 minutes on the phone… about 20 minutes online….
Mattias says
Thank you! Following your advice I just got All Access for $143.11 per year (total, which includes taxes, etc.) instead of paying $275 per year.

I didn’t read this post until after I had already spent plenty of time with the first person….then went to a supervisor….who agreed to $99.00 rate (as stated above)…..then when he sent me to another dept to do the paperwork….I saw your post and got the 6 month @ $25.00….which actually ended up being $30.45/6 months. Like you, I’ll make sure I call the retention department before my account expires. Thanks for the tip!

I have 2 radios, and got the select package for $99/yr and on the other radio All Access for $119/yr
Was going to cost me nearly 400 for both, so big savings, thanks.
I was trying to justify having the two radios, but this worked great.
Perri says
First you have to call and say you want to cancel; then I received “promo” rate for both my cars…down from $270 to $120, in round numbers for all access one year.
mboden says
Yep, less than 10 min and I did take the $99 for 1 year package. Still a 48% discount over the normal price. I just hate calling back every 5-6 months to do it, so I did accept the 1 year deal. Oh and I did use the number above since another person who commented had mentioned the other number she had tried wouldn’t help her with a discount. Thanks for all the info!
Papa Barr says
called today. dealt with the guy that first answered and got the 5 month for $25 plus tax to $27.72. no hassle just kept saying I could afford to renew.
Mark says
Called the 601 number above and got the 99$ deal instantly, no haggling (probably could have gotten the 5 month deal instead, but have enough problems without having to call every 5 months, though this is a lot easier than dealing with Comcast).
AUBREY Jay OSMOND says
I just received a letter from sirius that is offering 6 months for $29.94 (cancel anytime). Am I missing something or should I just take this offer?

32 minutes and got to $99 -but I had three radios renewing and I pushed really hard

got 5 months for $25 (28) inculding taxes, and just like you said – they offered me the other two things first and then came up with that third offer. Yay! They even waived the $17 outstanding amount I hadn’t paid yet.
I didn’t have to ask for the retention dept. I just said I couldn’t justify my current rate since I didn’t use it much (truth). I’m sooo happy! thanks for this great advice.

been paying $23 month for all access . just called and got 6 months all access for 49.99 plus tax and fees. $58.41
Tim says
I just got Sirius Select for 5 months for $22.77 including all fees. I just called up the sales number on the radio and said I received an offer for 5 months for $20 in the mail and they signed me up for it.
Don says
I just got 6 months for $24.99 plus fees and taxes. Good deal.
Mike | HomelessOnWheels says
Why not? “Select” has pretty much all the good stuff. Only thing you won’t get is Stern and NFL/MLB . And no streaming, but why would you want to blow through internet bandwidth when SatRad already includes a delivery system for which you are paying a premium price? It’s silly to pay twice as much for All Access.
Sherry says
Renewed both my vehicles for the 5 mos at $24.99. Worth the few minutes on the phone.
PJ says
my conversation with them went exactly like the one scripted above; got the 5 month deal for $25($29 with taxes). Had to hear the other two deals first before they gave me best deal. Guess I will have to go thru this process everytime my plan ends…
WorthHaving says
Call this number first! I tried calling the 800 number listed on my account and was told “sorry, no discounts are available”, then tried 888-601-6307 and it worked. I got back almost $100 renewing 3 radios.
Zach says
All: It’s for the Select plan NOT the All Access, which is $50. I wouldn’t sign up for Select.

Fantastic! From $10.99/mo to $28 for 6 months just from making a 10min phone call. Thanks!

Just got off the phone with a very friendly rep. He went through the 3 offers and when he got to the $25 for 5 months I asked if I could get my current plan of $25 for 6 months. He was able to do it! Thanks retention rep! Whole thing took 5-10 minutes.
Josh says
I followed the script exactly, got the $25 deal and it took 7 mins 19 seconds! Awesome – thanks so much!
mgeubtn@gmail.com says
$25 will not get you the all access plan for 6 months.
Brian C says
Only took about 5-10 minutes too, not that bad to not have to pay full price.
Brian C says
Just gave them a call and they offered me the $99 for 12 months deal. I told them “I used to pay a lot less than that and I really like the service, can you offer me the same plan that I used to have of $25 for 5 months?” She came back with $30 for 6 months so it’s definitely worth it to give em a call!
D-Mill says
Just to clarify, received Select Plan for 5 months at $25 per vehicle.
D-Mill says
Thanks for the tip. Need to be patient and insist on a better deal. Ultimately, put on hold for a manager to approve 5 months for $25 per radio (I have service for 2 vehicles)
Bebe Enteo says
P.S. To the Editor. Do you realize that the Promo Codes are exactly the same, with the exception of the capital “B” for one of them? Like I’ve written, a Promo Code is not needed when you speak to a CSR
Bebe Enteo says
In the past, the deals I’ve gotten for 6 months for $25.00, were for the Select Plan, which in my opinion is a very good plan. It does not include Howard Stern, and there are some NFL games you can’t get, but if you like music, you get ALL the music channels. I’ve had the Select Plan for almost 5 years.
Koko says
No one has responded when asked which plan you got for $25.
Jenn says
Thanks for your advice. Followed it exactly and was offered the exact 3 offers you detailed above- first the $99 per year, then the $48/ 6 months. After rejecting both I accepted the $25 for 5 months. Whole things in under 5 minutes. Thanks so much. Will do same approach before my 5 months are up.
Bebe Enteo says
Discount codes are not needed. I’ve had Sirius XM for about 5 years, and always get the discount. I call about a month before expiration, and I NEVER give them a credit card. I pay with a Sirius XM Gift Card you can buy from Best Buy. What I do specifically, is I buy the gift card before I call, and then enter it into my account through their website. This is so when I call I have an amount I can use, for example, a $30.00 gift card will show up on my account as -$30.00. Then I call and give my info and then ask for the discount, and the QC rep says “Oh I see you have a credit. OK, no problem”, and the discount is given. The balance is shown as, -2.56, which can carry to the next time I call. I’ve been timing how long I spend on the phone, and the last time was less than 5 minutes. WORKS EVERYTIME. The trick, as you probably figured out, is to call before it expires.
Tony says
John, what plan did you get for this price (ex.. Mostly Music, Select, All Access)?
John says
Just renewed for 5 months for $25 plus tax and fees for a total of $29.92. Told them I was due for renewal but wasn’t willing to pay what they were going to charge. Was offered two options which I declined until I was offered 5 months for $25. The call took about 5 minutes.
Thank you.

I would like to know, if this is 2 radios, too, please. I just cancelled my service but, I do know they will be back to offer me something better within days. (I’ve never had to negotiate 2 cars, however!)

Just purchased 2017 Subaru Outback Touring model got 3 years all access. Can’t beat it.
Nettie Johnson says
just received the 5 months 25 discount, it was easy taking the steps you suggested thank u. thismy third time receiving this discount
Tanya Barcume Oskey says
JSC—are you getting 2 radios for $25/6 months or paying 25$ for each radio?
Dawn says
Thank you. I just saved $100 with your advice!
Linda Kiebish says
Thank you so much! I am currently receiving 3 months free of the All-Access service with the purchase of my new Chevy Traverse. I got a “special” renewal rate of $199. After seeing this I called and will be getting 6 months for $49.99! Will definitely be calling back before the 6 months expires.
JSC says
I have been a customer for years and every six months I call to renew at $25 for 6 months on both radios. It is a pain, but worth it.
I call as if I am cancelling and get all the way to a human and then tell them the only way I will stay is to give me the $25 price. Chat does not work, you have to call.

Have two vehicles, one All Access and one Select. Turned down Select offers of $99/year and $50/6 months. Was offered $25/5 months, I said I would take it if they could make it 6 months and they did. $25/6 months.
For All-Access, turned down an offer of $119/year and was offered $50/6 months and I took that.
Desi says
Just saved $40. Mostly music plan (88 chanels) was going up so I called to “cancel” and I got All In (140 chanels) for $99 plus tax. The first person I talked to couldn’t do anything and was going to cancel me, I told him thats fine if you want to lose a customer and then he put his supervisor on the phone…
Joe Maher says
Just called and said I want to cancel, which I really wanted since I am not using it that much and believe SiriusXM’s current rates are extremely high and unsustainable. They were actually nice and made it clear that they want to keep my subscription. Kept offering better rates and in the end I renewed for 6 months for a total of $25.
Tony says
I have heard if you buy a Sirius XM gift card from Best Buy for 25.00, how does one pay the tax on it without giving your credit card number.
Tamara says
Thank you! I just called in today, and got the $120/year rate! I’m so glad I saw this post. I just told them “look, I’ve talked to several people who have been offered $120/year, so I’m not paying that” and she immediately “found” a special offer for me!
Holly LeBarron says
Can you use the same subscription for 2 vehicles? Or do you have to have 2 subscriptions?
JB says
Absolutely no luck renewing at a decent rate ($5 month) using the chat feature
Jason says
Please let us know! I’m considering cancelling to see what deals I can get
Stephanie says
It’s 5-6 months of the Select plan for $25, not All Access.
Stephanie says
I called XM today because my last deal of 5 months of Select for $25 was expiring and I was aiming for a year of All Access for $89, which I’ve heard of people getting before. I was initially told about the regular prices, but turned them down. Today’s deals were: 1 year of Select for $99 plus fees or a year of All Access for $120 plus fees. I turned both down. Then, it became 6 months of All Access for $50 or 5 months of Select for $25. I asked for a year of Select for $60, but was told no. So, I cancelled because I’m curious to see what deals a cancelled subscription will get me. TBD.

This is GREAT ADVICE!!!!! Thank you so much. Worked perfectly!
Stefon says
THANKS!! This really worked word for word! I have two vehicles so the savings for me was substantial. I wish the channels were ala cart because I only listen to 3 stations!
RJ says
5 for 25 plus 1 month free so 6 months for 25.00
Shawn says
After 20+ minutes they wouldn’t give me the $25 deal for the all access plan. Can anyone confirm they got the all access plan for $25?
karen says
my current deal is 6 months for $25. told the rep i wanted to repeat that. he said no can do. i asked him to put me on with someone who “could do.” i got my 6 months for $25. less than 5 minutes for him to agree to my terms. you have to be firm and they’ll work with you. thanks for the tips!!
Ann says
6 min. On phone And got the 6 month select subscription for $25.00. I had the 6 mo/$25 plan previously, and he honored the same rate, so yay! ?
Melissa says
I’ve been digging on their site and noticed they offer packages that aren’t easy to find. There is a basic plus package I’ve found by googling, and I have to think there is a basic package they just totally don’t have online, because they do have a channel line up for it.
Woodlands Traveler says
…. for 5 month contract. Took nearly 20 minutes to do it.
The girl on the phone sounded like a muffled Minnie Mouse.
Woodlands Traveler says
I have two radios and was able to get them down to $25 for each radio, including fees and taxes.
Scott says
Yep – call timer said 8:43 when I hung up with them. Excellent tip!!
Jeff Mann says
Worked exactly as you said. Option 3 is 25.00 for 5 months. Thank you. Jeff

No problem Nick, tell your friends/family about our websites for all future deals!
Nick says
I just called and requested to cancel my subscription because it was up 11/10/2016. I rejected the first offer of $99 of XM Select for a year plus taxes & fees. She can back and offered me a $20 credit. So I got one year for $79 which equals $6.58 / month. Thanks for you help and Good Luck !
scott freeborn says
Can’t thank you enough. They followed your detailed “script” 100% and defaulted to the 5 for $25
Todd says
Thank you so much for the information. Called in, talked to the rep, declined his first 2 offers and ended on the 5 months for $25 package + tax = $30.34. Beats the $100+ annual I had been paying.
Jenny says
I had talked to my parents and i called back, after arguing with the sales people and then them transferring me to the cancellation dept they agreed to let me have the 6 months for $25, of course after taxes $26.14. Score! After a lot of haggling and arguing which is very annoying!
Jenny says
I’m trying to haggle with them now, they are telling me that they no longer do the 6 months for $25 but have a 5 months for $25 and if i wanted to the 6th month it would be $31 and some change. Since its not my account i need to ask before i make any decisions. The parents love Sirius, being the daughter and getting the deals, not so much.
Brian says
Question for everyone here: What plan did you get with your 5-6 month $25-$30 offer? The select or the All Acess? Thanks !!
robert says
Also followed the script. I told the guy up front that I 1) wasn’t sure if I was getting the value… & 2) I found an online coupon for $25/5 months. He didn’t haggle-he gave me 6 mo. $29.94. Same price=$5/month.
My only advice-just make sure that you put in your calendar to call them again in 5-1/2 months to do the same thing.
Colette Grewe says
What I’ve done for the past 7 yrs that I’ve had sirius, is google siriusxm coupons….there’s usually coupons for 5 or 6 months for $25. Just call them and tell them you got a coupon online and you can bypass everything. I’ve always given them my card info, but go to my online account and remove my card info. No need to deal with them any longer than you have to.
christopher dicea says
6 MONTHS $25. TOO EASY
J. Thomson says
Had success today with this script. I am a renewing 10 yr customer. Had to listen to the less attractive deals, but replied it was not worth it to continue, finally got to the $25/5 mo offer, which I accepted. Given that I will likely trade-in my current car this year, it made sense. Yes, you can transfer an account to a different vehicle, but there are other options available on smart phones that compete.
Paul says
I just called and the best they could offer me (my trial is ending soon) is 6 months for $50.
JM says
Theres an easier way to do that. I discovered this option months ago after calling. Just call and say you want to cancel. After getting through all the steps above and they offer you the 5 month plan tell them you want to remove the credit card on file and be sent an invoice. You no longer have a credit card on file and you then have more time to pay the bill if say you don’t have the money until payday, I’ve done this several times and its worked each time
Jimmy Hook says
I just did this and it worked. Like you say the only catch is the lack of an auto-renewal notice so DEFINITELY call before it renews at the old price
Danny Nguyen says
Thank you for the tip and visiting our post, Bebe Enteo!
Bebe Enteo says
In my experience, Promo Codes NEVER have worked, and they’re NEVER needed. I’ve done the 6 months for $25.00 for years without any special codes.
Another tip that I found useful: Pay using a Sirius XM Gift Card that you can buy at Best Buy. The gift card code can be entered directly online and it’s a great way to pay without using a credit card!
Thanks for the article!
