If you purchases a new car recently, chances are it may have came with a free trial of Sirius XM. Sounds great, huh? Especially since it typically 6 months of free service.
Pretty good way to get you hooked and soon after, you will have to pay for the service for it to continue!
Not a bad thing, but there’s definitely a way to reduce what you pay. Because is $10.99 – $20.99 a month worth the service? That’s up to $250+ per year spent using the service.
Even if you cut down but a fourth or even half, think about what more you could do with those savings!

How To Negotiate The Best Sirius XM Deal
Below are steps you can take to help lower your service bill.
To start off, research the current Sirius XM promotions going on and decide which plan best suits your needs and wants. Then you’ll be able to use this as a negotiating factor. Now, simply call and ask for the retention department.
Once you’re on the phone with the retention department rep, start mentioning how much you enjoy and love the service and want to continue the service, but you feel like you’re not okay with the price you’re paying.
This is when the rep may throw a few offers out to you. Keep an open ear for the offers, but definitely do not accept the first offer. Deny the first few offers.
Be sure you have a calculator so you can divide the offered price with the number of months to find out how much you’ll be paying monthly.
In summary, the offer you should get is 5 months of service for $25. This is the lowest offer possible that you can get. Once you receive this offer and accept, the rep will go over some terms & conditions along with some disclosures. Now you can enjoy your service without having to pay full price!
Now, if you come across a rep that does not offer that deal, stand your ground. Do not give up and simply try again a few minutes after hanging up.
Thank the rep for their time and call back and follow the same procedure again until you get the offer. If you end up not receiving the offer, simply cancel the service and you should receive offers via email/mail to become a member again.
Those offers may even be lower than what the reps offered you – once you get offered a deal that you are happy with, sign up again! Hope you the best of luck in receiving the best deal possible!
Helpful note: It’s a good idea to take note of your expiration date. If you do not, your subscription plan will renew at current price (probably more than you are willing to pay). Set an alert & mark it on your calendar. That way, you can contact Sirius XM to negotiate to get the best deal again. If you do not receive the offer you desire, simply cancel the service. Then, wait for new offers to be presented to you via email or email. Contact the billing department and ask them to remove your card from their file (you have the right to do so), so you will not be charged automatically after your promotional offer has ended.
Bottom Line
Sirius XM is definitely entertaining – whether you use the service to listen to music, catch up on the news, listen to a podcast, etc, Sirius XM is surely a fantastic service. However, before you pay full price for satellite radio, definitely give these tips a try to help you save money!
Sometimes, all it takes is a phone call and a few minutes of your time to get the best deal possible! If you’re looking to maximize your savings, be sure to check out the best credit cards or more ways to save money online!

Just got $30 for 6 Months as the 1st offer when I called. Asked about Internet Streaming/App & they offered it free, as a 6 month trial. $34.10 after fees. This was my 3rd renewal.
Jim says
I need to remember to ask about the online deal
Scott says
I worked today for me. I spent about 5 minutes on the phone to get the 5 month for $25 plus fees/taxes package. Thank you for the tip.
Rosemary says
Wow! This worked great! Been a subscriber since 2012 and been overpaying every year. Got 5 months for $25 in less than 5 minutes for 2 vehicles! Thank you so much!!
Sean A. says
8 minutes $37.58 for select service with NAV/traffic. Woohoo!! Thank you so much for this guide. Much appreciated. Went exactly as described
Francis says
I have followed this nearly identical procedure for 15 months. I don’t enjoy it, but would not pay for the service otherwise. I always receive the 5 months for 25.00 dollars plus I have to add nav and weather (Cadillac Cue/GM Nav) with taxes and fees totaling 45.50 for 5 months. This time (the third time I’ve received this offer) I just followed your guide and it was a far shorter phone call, and worked exactly like your playbook above. It was step by step what you posted above.
Thanks!

I got the 5 months for $25 then I asked about “bvu312hw” ($25 for 6 months) and was told it’s no longer available. He offered me 6 month for $30 and gave me a $5 discount. This is the best deal I’ve gotten in the 2 years I’ve been renewing this way.
Robert says
Just called to cancel and instead accepted the 5 month/$25 promotion. Woo-hoo!
Mike says
This is the second time I’ve had to go through this procedure. I’m signed up for another 5 months. It was easier this time since I had your message in front of me and didn’t feel as confused or intimidated as I did the first time when I was being transferred from department to department.
Jerry says
The promotion is still good for 5 months for $25.00. It took me about 14 minutes of saying no before it was offered. Not sure I am looking forward to doing this again in 5 months though.
Kel says
Did that include the Howard Stern channels?
Nancy says
Worked like a charm!!! got the $25 for 5 month deal.
You just have to stay firm with your message of “I can’t afford that.” and she followed your script just as you stated above.
Thank You!!!
Chris says
What packages is this price good for? Is price (5 months at $25) good for the all access package?
E-Monster says
Just called and got the 5 months for $25. Said I wanted to cancel since I don’t use it that much and the renewal rate was too expensive. Was offered the 1 year promo….I said I can’t do 1 year deal since my lease is expiring in just under 5 months. (Lease expiring in less than a year is true, 5 months….maybe not). Offered me the 6 month deal, said that was still too long. Then she made it a little interesting…..said that was the best she could offer, so she would start the cancellation request, probably knowing that I was just playing the game and pausing to see if I’d accept the 6 months offer. I said ok to the cancellation, figuring I could always call back. She put me on hold for about 15 seconds, then came back and claimed that a rare promotional rate “just popped up on my screen” for $25/5 months. So stay strong. Remember you can always call back and get a different rep to try again. Was on the phone with them for 8 minute and 8 seconds.

I have a two radio plan and need to add a 3rd car making the plan for 3 radios. Any suggestion on how to work a deal for this? My plan is up in October and the free trial on the new car is up in October. XM has already contacted me once by phone and I did not add the new car at that time.
Bebe Enteo says
I’ve always gotten a discount using the steps you outline, by call the Retention department works. It is much better than calling the other toll free numbers, because the Retention department is in North America; once I got someone in Oklahoma, and the next someone in Canada. Either way, it was less than 10 minutes and has worked every time! I’ve been a subscriber almost 5 years.
The only suggestion I have is to use a Sirius XM gift card to pay. You can buy these at Best Buy. Without using a credit card, they tell you that there’s a $2.00 invoice fee, but I always avoid this by calling the Retention department and re-negotiating about a month before the due date. And they read you the conditions, “…you must call to cancel and you will be renewed at current rate…”, blah blah blah.
Great advice. Now, Sirius XM has to find a way to have the DJ’s not talk so much!
Mark says
Yes on the DJ talk. Not all the music channels have DJs. Hey, how about dump them all? Like Music Choice.
Jeffery Barnes says
Worked like a charm, just like you saido ,5 months for 30 bucks all in. Thanks alot great way to save a little money.
Bryan says
My last 5 months for $25 was just ending, I was just able to secure again the same deal 5 months for $25 plus taxes = $30.17. I just set a calendar reminder in 4.5 months to call again before the auto re-bill comes to me! Total time on phone 10 minutes.
Mr. Mike says
I accepted the All Access for 6 months at $56.94 including all fees. The original off was $136.54 for 1 year with all fees.
Sara says
Thanks! Just go the same deal as Mr. Mike. Thank you again for all the tips. Worked perfectly!
Stephanie says
just worked like a charm!!!!
Cashius says
THANK YOU!
I followed your STEP 3 instructions and the CSR jumped right from the $99 for 1 year to $25 for 5 months! So easy!
Karen says
Easy peasy! I did exactly what the directions said and got offered 6 months for $30.00 plus fees and taxes which came to a total of $34.96!
DKPSkipper says
Just did the 12 for $99. They still wanted to tack on the “invoice fee” of $2 and I told them that I would charge a $5 check writing and handling fee.
Do this before your subscription runs out.
You probably won’t get someone who had English as their 1st language.
Gene says
Great advice, I settled for the All Access $49 for 6 months. I have done this twice now and you have to actually say the magic words: “I am going to cancel my subscription”.
Once you say that, the discount offers are presented. Until you say that, they keep trying to get you to purchase a full price offer.
