The Gwen is a hotel in the Art Deco tower that gives off an old-fashioned, luxurious vibe. This hotel is both dark and elegant while finished with brass fixtures, plush furnishings, and beautiful art hangings.

The Gwen has 311 rooms and suites that follow the Art Deco theme, with more brassy fixtures, jewel tones, geometric shapes and a sophisticated, industrial style. The King Grand Deluxe Room is designed in black, white and charcoal with accents of emerald, peach and rose. The bath is paired with marbled, granite floors, spacious walk-in showers, separate tub and Molton Brown amenities.
Facilities
The Gwen offers amenities such as complimentary shoe shine service, free Gwen Bicycles usage with road maps, tote bags for shopping or beach activities, WiFi and a 24-hour business center. The 2,000-square-foot fitness center is open 24 hours so you can take advantage of the latest cardio equipment that lets you stream Hulu, Netflix and Pandora. Unfortunately, there’s no spa or pool at this location
Food & Drink
Located upstairs at the Gwen, is an indoor-outdoor space that offers craft cocktails, tasty bites and breathtaking views. The beverages here are to die for, using local booze and craft beers.
The hotel restaurant, Kostali, is ran by James Beard Award-winning chef Carrie Nahabedian. Here, you can enjoy a taste of Southern Europe and Northern Africa. Some notable dishes include whole-roasted loup de mer, garganelli with clams, prawns and feta cheese butter, and hummus with lamb, radishes and walnuts.
Service
At check-in, guests are greeted with a warm welcome and smile. The receptionist explained included amenities and unique services. There’s the curling rink that comes with the “urban glamping” option, and the “Call Me Old Fashioned” option where a premixed Old Fashioned comes to your room, topped with candied bacon and orange peel.
Location
The Gwen Chicago is a walk away from the Magnificent Mile and is connected to The Shops at North Bridge by indoor bridge. The Loop and Millenium Park are about a 10-minute walk away, and the Museum of Contemporary Art takes about 15 minutes. Lake Michigan and Navy Pier are about 20 minutes on foot.
