I had BCBS after my former employer switched from Aetna. Two months later, I was downsized. Being that I had the plan for only just over two months, I only paid in maybe $220 in premiums. According to the official documentation, the absolute maximum payout will be 15% of the premiums paid in (minus the lawyers fees, etc). Since when is about $18 worth the risk of identify theft created by the transfer of my personal details between BCBS, their legal council, then the transfer to JNDLA (The settlement administrator)? What happens if JNDLA is compromised in a cyber-attack? Let me guess, another lawsuit, netting another $20 or so?
I contacted the legal council for the class, and told them that I will file an objection, and appeal the case. I will tie it up indefinitely if they do not get my name, and address permanently removed from the class member list. I called JNDLA and they verified that my name was removed. I tossed the postcard in the fireplace. Nuff said!
