- ARTICLE REQUIREMENTS
- Must be the teen’s original work, not copied from any other source, and must be authored solely by the teen.
- Submissions should be 350 words maximum (not including title) and can relate to any financial topic.
- Must explore a financial topic suitable for publication in SLFCU’s Dollars & Sense newsletter and on slfcu.org.
- Topics may include but are not limited to: teen business and money making ideas; how to fundraise for a charity or project; lessons learned from a first job, etc. To view more topic

- If applicable, must cite sources used (for instance, if the article quotes a news source or website).
- SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A parent or guardian’s contact information must be provided. SLFCU will contact the teen directly only if a parent/guardian gives permission to do so.
- Permission must be provided for SLFCU to make changes or edits to the article prior to publication.
- By submitting an article for consideration, both the parent or guardian and the teen are providing permission to SLFCU to publish the article in print and electronic publications.
- If their article is chosen for publication, SLFCU may request a photo of the teen. By providing a photo, the parent or guardian and teen give SLFCU permission to use the teen’s
- name and photograph in connection with the published article.
- SELECTION AND PAYMENT
- SLFCU will review all submissions and respond within 30 days.
- If an article is not selected, SLFCU may contact the parent or guardian with suggestions for the teen to improve the article.
- If the article is selected, SLFCU may contact the parent or guardian to discuss edits. In addition, SLFCU may ask the parent or guardian to convey any questions or clarifications
- regarding the article. The teen should work in a timely manner to provide SLFCU with edits to facilitate publication.
- After selection and final edits are complete, SLFCU will coordinate with the parent or guardian to deposit $100 to the teen’s SLFCU checking or savings account, or generate a check
- made payable to the teen and mail to the address on file for the teen’s SLFCU account.
- Tax liability on prize monies is the responsibility of the recipient.
