Here’s a great combo to make some good money. It does take a little work, but $250 is pretty darn good. First off, you need to apply for the Citi Platinum American Express Card. This card is currently the best percentage back reward since you get 3 Thank You points for every dollar purchase and 5 Thank You points for supermarkets, drug stores and gas stations. Essentially, this is a 3% back in terms of Thank You points. However, the card is only free for the first year. So if you are not down with annual fee, cancel the card around the 11th month.
Currently, you can get 15000 Thank You points after $300 in purchases. This is easily done. But wait, what can you get with Thank You points? I use my Thank You Points(TYP) to pay back my student loans. Thank You Points network allows me to use the points toward my student loans. Example: 2500 TYP = $25 toward your student loans. This is just like cash to me. But if you don’t have student loans, they you can exchange it for gift cards. After your $300 in purchases, this should give you around 16000 Thank you points.
Since 3% back for all purchases is the pretty darn high, you should take advantage of ordering coins from the U.S mint. Buying these coins is treated as a purchase, so don’t worry. Simply deposit it into your local bank once you get it.
This total $3000 in coins = 9000 Thank You points for you.
Hence, you total thank points is 25000. Exchange this for $250 toward student loans or gift cards.
**Make sure your address is safe, because they will drop the coins package at your door.
***I would use this card for everything in the first year. The rewards is only good for another year after that, so It might even be worth it to pay the annual fee.

American Express has always been generous with their Starwood American Express card, because you can get 10,000 bonus points after your first purchase. This is good for a $150 ticket or a $100 Amazon gift certificate. Additionally, there is an extra 15,000 bonus points by spending $15,000 on the card within the first 6 months.
