About 23andMe

How 23andMe Works
23andMe allows you to submit your DNA for testing from the comfort of your home. Take a look at your ancestry and other information to help you understand your genetic makeup. Here’s how it works:
- Order. Choose from Health + Ancestry or Ancestry + Traits. Both include a saliva collection kit (no blood or needles required).
- Spit. Follow the kit instructions and collect your saliva in the tube provided. Register the barcode on the tube and mail it back to the 23andMe lab in the pre-paid package.
- Discover. 23andMe will send you an email to let you know that your report is ready (approximately 3 – 5 weeks). Log into your online account to discover what your DNA says about you.
The Health + Ancestry Service identifies health, traits and ancestry components for $199, while the Ancestry + Traits Service pinpoints ancestry and information about your predisposition to certain traits for $99.
