Double Dipping on Bank Bonus

There is a way to double dip on certain bank bonus by using a 2% cash back credit card to fund your account. For example, you can open this Chase $100 bonus special and they let you deposit up to $2K into your account using a credit card. Don’t worry, many people confirmed that this will count as a purchase. Hence, you can collect a $40 cash back on $2K deposit using the 2% rewards card.

You don’t have a Chase branch around? then try out Bank of America $50 bonus and deposit up to $1K using a credit card. Again, this will count as a purchase and you will get an extra $20 more using a 2% credit card to fund your account.

I’m sure other banks let you fund with a credit card too, just make sure it will count as a purchase and not a cash advance fee. Let me know if you have experience from other banks.

Suze Orman’s $100 Save Yourself Plan

Best Mortgage Rates

Fed’s rate is now close to Zero, hence it’s a good time to buy a home or refinance an existing loan. The website the Mortgage Professor does a lot better job at explain refinancing and for new buyers. I’m just going to list out the best possible rates from big reputable lenders.

IndyMac – 4.75% APR, 0 Point refinance

WellsFargo – 4.75% APR, no cost refinance

Wachovia – 4.875% APR

Again, if you are going to refinance, ask for a no cost refinance loan. This means no appraisal, title insurance, document fees, recording fees, or the mortgage broker’s commission. As long as the rate is lower, you are saving money.

If you don’t want to change your loan, call your lender and tell them other companies are offering you much lower rate to refinance. They will want to keep your loan and will offer a “loan modification.” Everything is the same except for the lower rate. No fees of any kind. I’m attempting this right now.

Few things you want to do on the call:
1) Make sure they acknowledge the free rate floatdown
2) Make sure the lock period is at 45 days or more
3) Sign up for paying for by AMEX, it’s worth it

5) Ask them to email you a good faith estimate. You’ll also get the agent’s contact info this way
6) Get a loan number for reference, even if it’ll change soon.
