$40 Credit to your Verizon landline bill

in Free Random Money

If you have Verizon services (*it will not work for wireless), simply call 1-888-226-0799 and ask them about the $40 promotion. Again, this will only work if you have a Verizon landline. This is a promotion through the mail, but you don’t need the actual letter to get the credit. Simply call the number. Hang up and try calling again if they tell you to contact local billing office. If the CSR doesn’t know what you are talking about, ask the person to read the promotion’s list. There should be one for $40 credit over 4 months, its called a Customer Appreciation Service Credit.

Here are confirmed States:

California
Florida
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
New York
New Jersey
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Texas
Virginia
West Virginia

I tried this on my business account in MA. Called the 888 number above and was referred to 800-870-9999 for business accts. The rep could not find the promo, even had her read me her promo list. She told me she might be able to find it if I had the promo code from the mailing. Maybe this doesnt work for business accounts?

I am in Indiana. Thought it was working until service rep asked me to fax it in. Would anyone like to email me a scan of the front and back? ; )

I’m in upstate NY.
I tried calling that 888 number 3 different times, talked to three different CSRs and every time they called me to call the local office.
Just for grins, I called the local office and they never heard of this promotion.
Strike 3, I’m out.

Someone who actually got the letter should post a scan so people know what it contains in case the CSRs quiz them

Worked in CA, no problems! One thing that was strange was the rep notified me 4 times that the call would be recorded.

My goodness how many times do they need to repeat everything you say and tell me that the call is being recorded!! I am in Florida and I earned my $40 credit, just waiting on the telephone for at least 25 minutes for the rep to process it, and he never did! I swear he must has said bear with me, at least 20 times during the conversation. Then said it was only good in California. Oh brother typical Verizon! Bait and Switch!

yeah they kept saying “this call is being recorded, do I have your permission?” over and over again.

Just tried the number twice and was told that I could only get the credit by calling my local #. First call I was told they could only do it for calafornia. Second call said only that I had to call my local #,

I’m in NJ. I called the 888 # above and was told to call the local office. Called the local office and they told me the credit was only available in CA. She asked me about my internet (10 meg down/1 up from a local cable company, in the process of being bought by Comcast) and TV (Dish) and suggested their bundle: DirectTV (w/ 2-year contract) and DSL (3.0 down/768 up). There’s no way I’m interested in a 2 year contract – I’m waiting for FIOS. But I told her that when Comcast takes over, I might go with their bundle, including phone. She said those were the magic words – she could give me our 44.99 (plus all the fees and taxes) Freedom Essentials package for $25.99/month for 12 months. So my call for a $40 credit over 4 months turned into a $228 credit over 12 months!

Yikes! VZ is on to us!!! When I requested the credit the CSR read me verbatim an internal memo describing how “unauthorized people” were getting the offer from websites… ;-)

I lightly protested feigning ignorance. Me: “what should I do? go get the letter itself for you?” She then relented and I SCORED!!!

I was just denied in Virginia; The rep said it was only in California, seemed to check a list and then said, “Yeah, only in California.” He asked me where I got the information, and when I told him, he said that they’d gotten a few other calls from people because some Websites were “giving erroneous information” and he was sorry about that. Wish I’d read the responses here before I’d called them.
