The twenty dollar bill trick has been around for years in the travel industry. I’ve never attempted to do it even though this would be up my alley to do something like this. The trick works best if you are staying at a Hotel in Las Vegas or a really nice Hotel in another city. When you check into a hotel, put a $20 bill with your confirmation credit card while giving your info to the front desk clerk. Ask the clerk, “Do you have any complimentary upgrades available?”. Usually, they check to see if there are upgrades available, if not, then they will return the $20.
More info:
- Best to be discreet. You want to put the $20 between your id and credit card.
- If you are staying at really nice hotel like the Venetian and such, you might consider using a $50 or a $100 bill instead of the usual $20.
- Upgrades include, but not limited to, corner room with view of the strip, king size bed, suite, free spas, etc.
- The success rate is usually around 75% according to most people that have done this.
