Republic Wireless, a North Carolina-based service company, is offering a cheap $19 smartphone plan per month with unlimited Internet, voice, and texting. This is by far the cheapest smartphone plan with no restrictive contract or hefty early-cancellation fee. They can provide the unlimited data, voice, and texts because Republic Wireless customer phone calls are placed via Wi-Fi(whenever Wi-Fi is available). If Wi-Fi isn’t an option, you phone calls are placed through Sprint network.
With all cheap plans, there are a few drawbacks such as only one smartphone to choose from -the Motorola Defy XT at $199. You can get for $79, however your monthly rate will jump to $29. However, if you add it all up(initial charges and monthly fees) and compare it to a traditional plan, a family of three can save $2,715 over the course of two years.

How’s the services?
We know that this is probably the cheapest for those wanting to use a smartphone, especially for Google Maps alone. The #1 question is “How’s the services?” While neither the phone nor the service is the best out there, you are getting the most out of your money- bar none! For many people that have used Republic’s wireless, the call quality was adequate, text service worked normally, and Web browsing and apps worked fine. When you are on Wi-Fi whether at home, office or public, you are getting the same speed as any other smartphone.
The phone’s features, to say the least, is functional and can run several Android apps at once. The bottom line? If you are on a budget especially college students with easy Wi-Fi access, then get this Republic Wireless plan. It will be awfully difficult to quarrel with the $19 a month price even with its limited phone capabilities.
