HP tx1000z 12.1″ Touchscreen Laptop Turion X2 1.9 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD for less than $700

November 30, 2007 · Filed Under Hot Deals · Comment

I just bought the HP tx1000z 12.1″ Touchscreen Laptop Turion X2 1.9 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD for less than $700. I made a few upgrades such as 2GB RAM and 802.11b/g WLAN with Bluetooth. They also have free 160GB HDD upgrade.

Here’s what I did:

  1. I went through Ebates to get 3% Cash Back
  2. Search HP in the search box, and click through their link.
  3. At HP site, search for HP Pavilion tx1000z
  4. Standard Price is $949. You can customize it however you like.
  5. Customize it and add to cart.
  6. You have few options to pay. I choose to pay with Paypal to get $50 cash back with their current holidays promotion.
  7. My Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card is link through Paypal, so that should net me 1.25% cash back.
  8. You will be taken back to the HP page. Before finalizing, I enter code NB3075 to get 30% off the entire order.
  9. The total was $800 + $50 tax + free shipping = $850
  10. Total now is $850 - $50 cash back from Paypal - $35 from 4.25% cash back from Ebates and Chase Freedom = $765
  11. You know me…I can’t do this deal without a little hustling. Once I got the confirmation number, I called them up…telling them…”umm..I think I’m gonna cancel this order”…. “It’s a little too expensive and I saw another laptop at Circuit City that is $100 Cheaper.” I was instantly transfer to the manager and was offer a $75 credit if I choose to continue with the order.
  12. Grand total: $765 - $75 = $690

36% Off on Gift Card from Eastbay.com

November 28, 2007 · Filed Under Coupons · 3 Comments

Eastbay.com has a lot of deals on shoes, etc. Not only that, they normally have 30% Friends and Family discount code every now and then.

Here’s what I did.

First, I went through Ebates to get 5% cash back on my purchase. Search for Eastbay and go through their shopping portal. At the bottom of the page, under Shopping Help, click on gift cards. I bought $300 worth of gift cards. Use promo code EWS7PFC2 to get 20% off. I click on pay with Paypal to get another $50 off (Paypal is doing a holiday promotion. $50 will be deposited into your Paypal account).

Basically, I’m buying $300 of Eastbay gift cards for $190. All I’m waiting for now is the next 30% off Friends and Family code to come out. So if I use the gift cards in conjunction with the 30% off code, it would be like 50% off. Now if I can find clearance items when the 30% off code come out, the savings is even greater. Sweet!!

$50 Transfer Prescription Coupon

Here’s a $50 Rite Aid Prescription Bonus

You can find this coupon in Sunday’s 11/25 “Atlanta Journal-Constitution” newspaper in “Metro” section, page # D7. Normally it is only $25 for transferring your prescription. This $50 Rite Aid Prescription Bonus is the highest I have ever seen. Here’s a way to make $50 in gift card every week/month. The coupon may be YMMV since some places only take the original coupon.

Follow these steps below:

First month:

  1. Download this $50 Rite Aid Prescription Bonus
  2. Take your prescription note to your local Rite Aid pharmacy, and tell them you want to change prescription here for the first $25 gift card. Offer is good until Dec. 22nd.
  3. The $50 Prescription is two part. The second $25 gift card is for your prescription refill. Offer is good until 12/8/07

Next month, YMMV since this expires 12/8/07. Other places might just take it.

  1. Take a copy above and go to Walmart.
  2. Tell them to price-match competitor’s coupon and ask for a gift card.

After next month,

  1. Take a copy or find another one online since the above will be expired, then take it to Target.
  2. Tell the to price-match competitor’s coupon and ask for your Target gift card.

Repeat the process with Albertsons, Tomb Thumb, Krogers, CVS, Walgreens, etc…

Hint: If you have two prescriptions, tell them to rang it up separately or use one at one Rite Aid and then go to another Rite Aid to get two gift cards.

If you don’t have an AmEx credit card, here are some cards with good bonuses.

Double Points With Business Gold Rewards

You get 5000 bonus points right away for simply making one purchase with the AmEx Business Gold Rewards. 5000 bonus points can be redeemed for a $50 gift card. If you manage to spend $20,000 in one year, you get another 5,000 points. Those that can spend $50,000 in a year, there is a 20,000 bonus points on top of the regular 50000 points.

If you already an AmEx Business Gold Rewards cardholder, login your account to see if you qualify for double membership rewards points for spending $500 each month. I wrote extensively on why you should get a business credit card.

50000 Frequent Flier Miles with American Express Starwood Preferred

You’ll get 10000 Starwood bonus points for making first purchase with AmEx Starwood Preferred Guest Card. Get an additional 15000 bonus points for spending $15K in 6 months. Math: 10K bonus points + 15K regular points for spending $15K + 15K additional bonus points for spending $15K = 40K points.

The 40K points can be converted to 50K frequent flier miles which can be amounted to 2 roundtrip tickets. Apply Today!

If you want an additional 10K bonus Starwood points for just making one purchase, then I recommend to apply for the Starwood Business.

Grand Hustle with Wal-Mart PS3 Promo

November 24, 2007 · Filed Under Hot Deals · 1 Comment

Today, starting 8AM, Wal-Mart is having a Playstation 3 promo whereas you will get 15 Blue Ray Movies with your purchase. Ten Movies you will get instantly, and 5 more movies in the mail.

You wondering, what is so special about that? The 80 GB Playstation 3 is $499, and each Blue Ray movie can be up to $30. What you want to do is get the 10 Blue Ray movies at $30 each such as Spiderman 3, Ghost Rider, Night of the Museum, etc. E.G. receipt

10 Movies x $30 = $300

Since it’s the holidays, many places such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc will give store credit even without a receipt. You can only take 3 movies at a time to return without a receipt, hence take 3 trips and return the movies for store credit.

So after all the work, you can get an 80GB PS 3 for $499 with $300 Wal-Mart in gift cards. Don’t forget the 5 extra movies in the mail.

You can argue that this is hurting the store since they have to restock etc, or you can argue…well since I’m getting store credit, I’m giving them business back anyways since I have to use the Wal-Mart gift cards. Everybody situation is different..do what you gotta do.

Of course, you can always Ebay the PS 3, but expect a $50 loss. Some even think they can return the PS 3 to Wal-Mart for regular price and keep the free movies, but I find this highly unlikely and extremely dirty.

The Chase $125 Bonus no longer exist. However, for today and Saturday only, you can just visit one of the local branches and get $100 bonus. If you are going to do this, make sure to ask for $25 referral to stack on top of the $100 bonus. You can ask for one from my readers in the comment.
