Situated in the historic 1930s Beaux-Arts building, The Carlyle is a contemporary take on old world elegance with its black-and-gold marble lobby, Art Deco interiors and Renaissance-like oil paintings. The original designer is Dorothy Draper and although the hotel has gone through many renovations over the years, much of the original style is still present.
This location includes 188 rooms and suites beautifully redesigned by Tony Chi, who also styled the Rosewood London. The guestrooms even come with pillow-top beds, Rivolta Carmignani linens, four-fixture marble baths and Kiehl’s toiletry sets.
The 450-square foot Premier Room has a luxurious king bed, a stunning bathroom with separate soaking tub and a rain shower, as well as city views overlooking Madison Avenue.

Named after the creator of Madeline children’s books, Bemelmans Bar is a timeless lounge that maintains its legacy with large-scale murals adorning its walls. The bar attracts celebrities, politicians, socialites and the like, featuring an extensive drink menu and nightly live entertainment.
Service at the Carlyle Hotel is top notch and they come dressed to impress. Everyone from the uniformed bellhop to the white-gloved elevator operator knew our names and addressed us with the utmost formality as we went about our day. The dedicated serviced meant we never at to carry our luggage at all between the cab and our room.
The Carlyle sits in a fine location on the Upper East Side at Madison and 76th, which is also known as “the corner of Wealth and Sophistication.” Central Park is a mere block away. The Met, the Whitney, and upscale boutiques and restaurants are all within walking distance.
