The current APY is far above the national average – if you compare the rates your brick-and-mortar banks offer, you’ll will immediately see a major distinction between the rates offered.

This makes saving and budgeting easier as you can have a specific portion or funds deposited into your savings account.

However, Federal Reserve Regulation D (Reg. D) does allow a maximum of six (6) withdrawals/debits per statement cycle from online high yield savings accounts.
In shorter terms, this helps reduce spending and increased savings due to not having access to an ATM card.

has this been changed since the 2019 post?

I called about the wire transfers and they told me that it has to be an account in your name, but it will not work with crypto accounts like BlockFi.
If anyone has specific questions about the wire transfers, I’d suggest calling them to get the details you need for your specific situation.
Greg Jay says
Their express ACH transfer is only for $25K or less per day. Larger ACH transfers take at least 3-4 business days.
When using as a hub bank for transferring between other high yield online accounts, they require written proof of ownership of external accounts. This is sometimes unavailable from some online banks. When Amex doesn’t get this they return the funds to the originating bank in a process that can take up to 8 business days in total.
Your express ACH table should be appropriately amended. Thanks

Where do I find “free wire transfers” information? I checked their website, faq, searched w/google – no mentions of free wires besides your blog. Do you know whether both types of wire transfers (incoming and outgoing) are free? Thank you.
