- Travel Benefits and Insurance: Get the comfort and peace of mind with travel benefits and travel insurance such as Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance, 24/7 Global Assist Hotline, Baggage Insurance Plan, and Travel accident insurance.
- Purchase Protection and Extended Warranty: In case of accidental damage or the theft of eligible purchases for up to 90 days from the date of purchase, American Express can refund you if the store would not. Amex will also extend the original U.S. warranty of items you purchase by up to one year.
- No Foreign Transaction Fee: American Express will not charge any foreign transaction fee (see Rates & Fees) on the purchases you make outside of the United States with your Card.
- Don’t Fly Delta: If you’re loyal to another airline or Delta doesn’t fly to the places you frequent (or it’s a costlier airline), you can find other airline rewards cards out there that will work better for you.
- High APR: You might do better looking for another card with a lower interest rate if you sometimes need to pay off your business expenses in installments. Even if you have stellar credit, the interest charges can add up quickly if you don’t pay off your balance in full each month.
- Annual fee: While the annual fee is waived for the first year (see Rates & Fees), you’ll pay it every year thereafter. With some business credit cards offering no annual fees, you have the potential to save some cash with another card. On the flip side, the annual fee for the Amex Gold Delta SkyMiles is lower than some other business cards, including Amex’s own Business Platinum Card.
- Better Rewards Programs Elsewhere: If you like the notion of cash back in addition to travel rewards that don’t limit you to one airline, another business credit cardwill probably serve you better in the long run.
- Not A Traveling Business: Plain and simple, if you’re not a small business owner who travels, there’s really no reason to get this card. Consider a cash back credit card instead.
Amex Gold Delta SkyMiles Approval Odds
The American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card is not the highest tiered airline business card meaning you may not need a really high credit score to obtain this card. If your credit score is above 650 and you’re otherwise maxed out in terms of the number of Amex credit cards you can get, this is a fantastic card to consider.
On top of that, for those with good and excellent credit, I find Amex business cards to be incredibly easy to be approved for. Anecdotally most people I’ve heard from have reported instant approvals on this card, so it really shouldn’t be very tough to be approved for, even if you haven’t gotten many business cards in the past.

Our Thoughts
The American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Card is a good business charge card with a generous welcome offer. In addition, your bonus categories and rewards are pretty flexible. You have the option to earn 3x bonus Membership Rewards® points when you choose one of these categories: airfare, advertising, gas stations, shipping, and technology (hardware, software, cloud computing).
Then, you’ll earn 2x points for the four you didn’t choose and 1x points for other purchases. You’re limited to $100,000 in purchases each year for the five categories. All of them are relatively common business expenses, and just a few are almost exclusive to business. Plus, as a charge card, rather than a credit card, you won’t have a pre-set limit. This allows a business to invest in equipment and other items to help grow revenue without worrying about overspending, but you must pay your balance in full each month.
