Uber Visa card has an introductory offer of $100 bonus cash. In order to qualify, you’ll need to charge at least $500 to your card within the first 90 days of opening your account.
Earning Rewards with Your Uber Visa Card
With the Uber Visa Card, your cashback is awarded as points. You’ll get:
- 4% back for every dollar spent on restaurants, takeout and bars, including UberEATS.
- 3% back for every dollar spent on airfare, hotels and vacation home rentals, including travel agencies and home share exchanges.
- 2% back for every dollar spent on online purchases, including Uber, online shopping, and video and music streaming services.
- 1% back for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Redeeming Your Uber Visa Rewards
The points you earn can be redeemed for Uber credits, it will directly under the Uber app. You can use your points for cashback or gift cards, all options have a one percent value. As an example: 2,500 points can be redeemed for a $25 Uber Credit, $25 statement credit or bank deposit, or a $25 gift card.
Redemptions start for:
- Uber credit redemptions start at 500 points, $5. Note that there is a 50,000 points, $500, daily limit for Uber Credit redemptions.
- Cashback redemptions start at 2,500 points, $25. The statement credits will post to your account between one to two business days. Bank deposit redemptions take three to four business days and have a maximum daily limit of 50,000 points, $500.
- Gift Card redemptions start at 2,500 points, $25.
Uber Visa Card Top Features
When you charge $5,000 to your card in one membership year, you get $50 towards digital streaming services. It’ll automatically appear as a statement credit towards eligible digital subscription services on you meet the spend threshold.
If you haven’t made $50 worth of eligible streaming purchases, the credit will automatically apply to a new digital subscriptions charged to your Uber Visa card.
If you pay your cell phone bill with this credit card, you’re eligible to receive up to $600 if your cellphone is broken or stolen. You can file up to two claims a year. Take note that if your phone is stolen, you’ll need to file a police report within 48 hours.
If it’s broken, you’ll need to hang onto the phone until after the claims-review process. You’ll also need to pay a $25 deductible, and coverage will only kick in after any other cellphone insurance plans that you have in place.
Register your card in the Uber app to keep track of points and redeem credits for Uber rides and UberEats. You also need the app to participate in Visa Local Offers, which can help you earn the maximum rewards with the Uber Visa card or any eligible Visa card.
Visa Local Offers add a percentage more to your Uber credits with certain purchases. There’s no limit on the number of credits you can earn in the program, but there is a $100 limit on Uber credits per purchase.
Use this card while traveling outside the US to keep earning your rewards without paying a foreign transaction fee. This is especially beneficial when you’re dining out or booking a hotel or airfare because you’ll still be able to earn that 3 – 4% cash back.
If you find yourself dining out often and using Uber during your travels, Barclays Uber Visa Card may be a great card for you to carry. It lacks the usual purchase and travel protections that come with most cards, such as extended warranty and free car rental insurance, but it has a couple of noteworthy benefits.
