Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Card Top Features
- Travel with Transfarency: A term invented by Southwest, Transfarency is the idea that customers should be treated honestly and fairly. That means $0 for your first and second checked bags (weight and size limits apply) and $0 change fee (fare differences may apply).
- Upgraded boardings: Earn statement credit for A1-15 boarding spots when you pay with your Priority card. You’ll be reimbursed for the cost up to 4 times annually. Upgraded boarding normally costs between $30 to $50 per upgrade, so using this perk can make up for the annual fee.
- Inflight discount: Receive 20% back as statement credit with your Priority card when you purchase inflight beverages, WiFi, messaging and movies.
- Tier qualifying points (TQPs): Earn 1,500 tier qualifying points (TQPs) for each $5,000 spent in purchases annually. These points count towards A-List and A-List Preferred elite status.
Every year, on the anniversary of our card opening, you will receive 7,500 Rapid Rewards bonus points. These points are worth around $112.
Every cardmember year, you will earn a $75 travel credit. This can be used towards most Southwest purchases. These purchases include flights, but excludes upgraded boardings and inflight purchases.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card Benefits
- All points earned with either card count towards Companion Pass. This benefit lets a friend of yours fly with you free of airline charges for a year.
- Get an annual travel credit. Credit cards that offer annual travel credits often cover only incidental fees. The Southwest Priority card gives you $75 annual credit that you can use toward Southwest airfare and other things.
- 7,500 bonus points after your Card member anniversary. This is worth about $75.
- Earn tier qualifying points towards A-list Status. Get additional benefits, such as priority boarding and bonus points.
- In-flight benefits. If you frequently purchase Wi-Fi, drinks or other qualifying in-flight services, you’ll earn 20% back in the form of statement credit when you use the card to pay for these purchases. You’ll also receive statement credit when you purchase up to four upgraded boarding per year based on availability. This can go from a $30 to $50 value.

Bottom Line
The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card was definitely engineered with the customer in mind.
Not only does Southwest’s mission include their dedication to the highest quality of customer service, but partnering with Chase whom keeps their customers a top priority resulted in a card that Southwest loyal members can definitely enjoy.
There is an annual fee of $149, BUT these jam packed benefits far outweigh this fee.
Considering you’ll already be receiving an additional 7,500 bonus points per card member anniversary, a $75 Southwest travel credit each year, and many prominent features and benefits, the annual fee is subtle compared to the benefits.
As a Southwest loyal member, I can certainly appreciate what Southwest and Chase has brought about in rewarding their customers.
