So this seems like a TECHCU@Work Employees and Contractors ONLY promotion.
Josh R. says
Just opened an account. I was only able to fund up to $125 into the checking and $25 into the savings via credit card. Kind of a waste opening the savings at all, but I thought perhaps it would let me put $1000 into each account.
AA says
Opened in May via an easy online application. Bank called me on the same day to review account information and answer questions. Regarding the promotion, they said they would “review” the account after 6 months, but ACH transfer from Santander triggered the bonus promptly. Bonus posted at the end of the month but funds are on hold for 6 months (exactly as described in their promo terms).
bob says
so, i opened the acct, made a billpayment, and an ACH Transfer from Santander – and it must’ve counted as a DD, b/c i got the bonus. Now it’s just a waiting game for the 6mo to roll by.
question: i see a button at the top of the tech cu page that says, “Open account”, and it lets you open a new checking or savings account if you like. Has anyone done this? Can we open those subsequent accounts with a CC, or must we fund them with money from our original Tech CU checking account? Some banks let you keep using a CC for additional accounts, others restrict you to existing funds…
grady says
Fine print says ” Credits are posted to Tech CU savings account as of the end of the month in which the verified qualifying transaction occurs, but will not count toward the balance available for withdrawal until six months after account opening.”
So you must leave account open for 6 months to keep the bonuses.
I can’t seem to post a new comment which is why I’m replying to an older one. Not sure why that works but there is not place to post a new comment.
grady says
Just opened an account for the bonus. Max cc funding is only $125 now.
William Mekeel says
Registered for account and received account number. Set up my SS DD based on email from TechCu. Two hours later received phone call from bank saying account number is DIFFERENT from email confirmation! What a bank! Good luck with these jerks.
AA says
I went through the application process as well. The thing to remember with credit unions is that you get a “Member Number.” Each account (checking, savings, etc.) is managed within that member number and has a “Share ID” associated with it. Tech CU displayed the member number and share IDs on screen at the end of the application process. But the numbers that you use on checks and on direct deposit forms is different; it is a 13 digit number that includes the member number and the share ID in it. Tech CU called me shortly after I opened the account to tell me the full 13-digit account number to use for direct deposit.

I called a CSR a few minutes ago and she told me they do a soft pull. I’ll be applying later today and will keep you updated on how it goes.
Anthony Nguyen says
Thanks Marcus. Don’t forget to check your credit report to see if it’s truly a soft pull or not. Then let us know.
Superman says
Tech CU allows credit card funding. I made initial deposit with credit card for $1,000. Soft pull Experian. $150 bonus received in one week.
Anthony Nguyen says
Thanks Superman!
Marcus Floyd says
Did you have to do the direct deposit or the credit card deposit was good enough?
Wyle says
I opened mine on 12/23/15 with $800 credit card funding. No bonus as of 1/18/16, but my actual DD won’t start for another 2 weeks.
timothy says
Experian equals a Hard Pull not a Soft Pull
AA says
I opened a Tech CU account about 1 month ago. I did not get a hard pull shown on my credit report, so it must have been a soft pull.
Ron says
You’ve got two promotions mixed up in this promotion. First under Account Type you’ve got Citigold Account Package listed and when you click on the link above that says “Tech CU $150 promotion page” it takes you to a Citigold promotion. Clicking on the link above that says “Technology Credit Union” does take you to the correct page for this promotion.
Anthony Nguyen says
Thanks Ron. It’s now updated.
Superman says
I am not seeing that this has been updated. “?Account Type: Citigold Account Package” Eligible accounts include Tech CU Basic or Interest Checking.
Anthony Nguyen says
Thanks. It’s now updated.
