If you love to travel, but hate paying the annual fee that most travel credit cards have for appealing perks and bonuses, take a look at the Discover it® Miles card.
The Discover it® Miles card is a flexible travel rewards card that offers 1.5 miles per every dollar spent on all purchases, no annual fee, and some sweet additional perks, such as miles matching. This card is great low-cost alternative for those who love traveling, but aren’t sure they’ll spend enough on travel to make up for the cost of an annual fee.

Great Perks for a Traveler
Unlimited 1.5x Miles – With the Discover it® Miles card, you’ll earn a flat 1.5 miles on every dollar you spend on purchases. At a conversion rate of 100 miles to $1 in reward redemptions, that’s an effective rewards rate of 1.5% every year you use this card. Plus, those miles you get will never expire as long as you keep your card.
1st Year Match Bonus – New cardholders will receive a match of their combined miles earnings at the end of their first year. This means that Discover will match all the miles you’ve earned during that entire first year. So if you earned 10,000 miles, you’ll get an additional 10,000 credited to your rewards account as a bonus. In addition, there’s no limit to the amount of bonus miles you can get. This means you can get an effective rewards rate of 3% on purchases for your first year.
0% Introductory APR for 14 Months – There is an introductory 0% APR period of 14-months for purchases (afterwards, a 13.49%-24.49% Variable APR applies). Thus, if you’re planning to go on a large vacation soon, you’ll get some breathing room before there’s any need to pay it off.
No Annual Fee – Most travel reward cards usually have an annual fee to get your rewards. Plus, you won’t need to do any sort of calculation to see if the card is worth it for you. No annual fee means you’ll get a solid 1.5 miles per dollar spent.
No Foreign Transaction Fee – Many other credit cards charge a 3% fee on purchases made outside the United States. However, the Discover it® Miles card won’t charge you a foreign transaction fee when used outside of the States. But make sure you use it at a place where Discover is accepted.
WiFi Fee Reimbursement – For your in-flight WiFi fees paid with your Discover it® Miles card, Discover will issue a statement credit of up to $30 a year.
Free FICO Credit Score – As with other versions of Discover it® cards, the Discover it® Miles card allows you to view your credit score for free on your statement each month.
The Discover it® Miles card has flexible redemption options. Miles earned on your card can be redeemed as statement credit on travel-related credit card spending or as general cash back. Discover considers airline tickets, car rentals, hotel rooms, travel agents, online travel sites, and commuter transportation to be “travel-related” purchases, which isn’t as broad as some other competitors’ definition of travel expenses.
You can also exchange your miles for cash back. Unlike many other travel rewards cards, converting rewards earned through the Discover it® Miles into cash back doesn’t result in any penalty, thus you can also think of this as a 1.5% cash back credit card. The Discover it® Miles doesn’t have minimum redemption requirements, so you could even request a direct deposit of 1 cent if you have 1 mile left after using your rewards to cover the cost of an airline ticket.
