    In Colorado my bank, citywide banks, has two promotions right now for opening a new personal checking account. $200 for direct deposit and estatements and another $500 if you deposit 50k or more. Great community bank and locations across Denver and the mountains.

    Anthony, do you have any thoughts on why there are always so few offers in California? Almost everyone I know is used to online banking, so having a bank in a different state is no big deal. But the good offers are always restricted to certain states. Do Californians already save? Or don’t save so are a lost cause? Are there governmental restrictions here that make it hard to do business? Just curious if there is any reason 🙂

    Thanks I didn’t really know what recourse I had. I sat in their awful office with laryngitis on the last day of the offer, wrote out all the info and still had to wait 4 hours. After that they never gave me the bonus on $50k, and then the interest rate was abysmal. I lefft the money longer than I should have just to be sure I didn’t miss one of the rules. And right after I signed up the branch disappeared, so trying to track down who did what/when is ridiculous.

    File a claim with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. That’s what I had to do to get my bonus. It is the worst bank with the worst service ever.

    Citi Bank is the worse. They claimed $400 after 30days for a $15,000 deposit. Never got it.Worst Banking experience ever! Now after 5 month will close the account and never will bank with them again.

    Thanks to you and BMO Harris and CitiBank have added a total of $600 to my accounts at their banks. Both banks funded my accounts many days before they were required to.

    Citi Bank is the worse. They claimed $500 after 90 days for a $50,000 deposit. Never got it. I set it up very clearly the branch and instead of $500 i got 20.84 after 5 months. it didn’t matter that i sent the promotion to Citi Bank to remind them of what their promotion said. Never got it. Citi Bank is incompetent and useless. NEVER use this lying stinking bank.

    I don’t know if it’s always been this way, partly due to not having always been here, but there was a I remember that a bank would literally take or hold or cut up in front of you, your credit card if (i think..but it makes the point) if you screwed up into a second month. I know..it sounds insane, right. Now, if u get beyond the avg.permissible screw-ups, one’s w/fees attached, they’re throw u a free one so they don’t lose your probable, potential, future screw-ups to their competition. Forgot which one, but this past ’08-9 bank mess, the one bank showing a profit was only due to all the fees collected from all of us who ‘joined-in’ giving our money away,

    Not only that, they don’t start counting the 90 days that you must leave your $50,000 in the account before getting the $500 bonus, until 10 days after your initial $50,000 deposit. Then they don’t give you the $500 until another ten to fifteen days after that actual 100 days. So, you don’t see that $500 until 115 days after your deposit. Nowhere on their website is this stated. You have to call them to find out why you haven’t seen the $500 bonus deposited in your account.

    Two days ago, March 8, 2016, there was a CItibank promo with a $500 bonus for depositing $50,000 into a savings account and a 1% interest rate, good until March 31, 2016. Now it is gone. What happened?
